Since the John Jenkins King Tiger requires a pre-order and most people want to know what they will be getting, John figured it would be good to post a review of the tank with lots of pictures, so he sent me this factory paint sample. I help John with the historical and technical research on his German Panzer models, so I'll do my best to hit all the highlights and answer any questions you may have.

NOTE: This model was a factory paint sample. The hole for the coaxial machine-gun was left off it. The production models will have the coaxial machine-gun hole like in the JJD release pictures.

So on to a quick review, and then lots of pictures.

Bottom Line: The goal was to release the most historically accurate King Tiger ever released in this hobby. To give you the feeling that if you were transported back to December 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge and a King Tiger came rolling your way, it would look like this. I think John did a great job, and hope everyone likes the results.

Features
- Interior detail for the turret as well as the tank hull, driver's compartment, and radio operator's compartment

- Hatches all open and close, including the rear hatch and engine compartment
- Mudguards can be removed individually to give the collector tons of display options. They attach by magnets. TIP: For best fit, attach the front mudguard first, then attach mudguards working from front to rear. Lift up the rear of a mudguard as you slide the front of the next mudguard under it.
- Track links can be attached individually to the sides of the turret
- Anti-Aircraft machinegun and mount are removable. Gun as well as mount move up and down (just like the real one did).

Paint Job
- Historically accurate soft edge tri-color "Ambush Camo"
- This was a factory applied paint job. While there were subtle differences between tanks, they all followed the same pattern. The patches for all the colors were in specific locations, the top of the barrel was only painted in Rotbraun (Red Brown).
- Historically only Dunkelgelb spots were painted on the Rotbraun and Olivgrün (Olive Green) colors while both brown and green spots were painted on the Dukelgelb patches.
- Colors were chosen to accurately depict late war German paint. For example, while the Dunkelgelb color is literally translated "Dark Yellow" the late war color was actually a greyish-beige (commonly referred to as Dunkelgelb Ausgabe '44).

Anti-Aircraft Machinegun
- AA Machinegun is accurately depicted as the "armored sleeve" version of the MG-34
- the AA Machinegun mount elevates, as does the gun, just like the real thing was designed to do
- the mount has an accurately detailed "Gurtsack" attached to the left side for holding belted ammunition

Size
- Accurate true 1/30 scale (same as all JJD tanks)
- Works best with JJD, First Legion, War Park, W. Britains WW2 figures
