Hi Guys,
Over the weekend a good friend of K&C down under – Mr. Brett Williams of ‘The Miliary Workshop’ reminded me that Ridley Scott’s new movie ‘NAPOLEON’ would be opening around the world on November 23.

Brett suggested I should post a few reminders of the huge number of Napoleonic – themed figures King & Country has released in the past as well as those that we still produce today.

Great suggestion, I thought, let’s do it… Well, here’s the first of the images that captures just some of the colour and spectacle that characterized ‘The Age of Napoleon’, on and off the battlefield.

About this new movie… It’s directed by Ridley Scott, a great British film maker.
I began to appreciate this man’s amazing talents and artistic abilities when I saw his very first movie ‘The Duelists’ – adapted from a Joseph Conrad novella about a series of duels fought between two French Hussar Officers of Napoleon’s Army over a period of 15 years.

When it was first released in 1978 it did not get a big release. I saw it in Hong Kong in 1979 at a Film Club.

It is one of the most beautiful, authentic and historically accurate ‘period’ films ever made!

What, in addition, makes it even more amazing is that the entire budget for this movie was just US$900,000 – not even a million bucks!

If you’ve never seen this movie please find it and enjoy it… you won’t regret it!

So, I’m looking forward to ‘NAPOLEON’ on November 23 and I bet it will have cost a lot more than US$900,000… In the meantime… enjoy!

Looking forward to this new movie. Actually watched the 1970 Waterloo on DVD last night, as have no neighbours atm I cranked up the volume, the music score on this film is so good.

Great posts!

K&C "Age of Napoleon" series has been the mainstay of my toy soldier collection. I'm looking forward to what future Napoleonic releases K&C has in store for us.

Let's hope the movie sparks an interest in all things Napoleonic. Particularly toy soldiers.

Napoleonics were the first toy soldiers I ever bought. Was 12 and saw them in a shop in Ostend. Don't recall the brand and not metal. Full colour, possibly a type of resin and could not have been that expensive as I remember got quite a few. 54mm.

My curtains as a kid were even Napoleonic.

Hope the movie does great box office as will encourage more good war / historical subjects.

Great set up Andy, great suggestion Brett. You have to marvel at the beauty of the costumes worn as uniforms at the time. They were so beautiful. I love seeing everyones Napoleonics, they are stunning. I would love to collect them but its such an immense field i couldnt collect all my other areas of interest, if i went down a Napoleonic rabbit hole. So Thanks Andy, Obee and Brett fir satiating my love of beautiful uniforms and brilliant toy soldiers.

Like you guys ‘Napoleonics’ have a special place in my own collection …and in the World of Toy Soldiers
A few years back I was in Germany with one of our excellent German dealers, Marcus, and we visited this amazing old, timbered house in what had been East Germany and saw this incredible Napoleonic diorama that had almost 2,000 figures on it—- many of which were K&C, I’m delighted to say!
The sheer spectacle and colour were like something out of the ‘Waterloo’ movie…just in 1:30 scale.

A reminder that when it comes to ‘Napoleoncs’…A few figures can look good…A few hundred figures look bloody magnificent!
