Hi Guys,

Re some recent posts…
1. Pacific Revisited…
Much as I am personally interested in the Pacific War the facts speak for themselves… Sadly it’s of very limited appeal to the vast majority of collectors.

Even with the launch of the television series it just has not happened! Like many of you I’ve been watching it on HBO out in Hong Kong… I’m enjoying it and it’s exceedingly well done BUT it sure ain’t BAND OF BROTHERS…

All War is Hell as Sherman said but War in the Pacific is just so bloody depressing!!! As far as I can see there’s virtually no humour or even lighter side of this terrible conflict. In that respect (although in a different way) it resembles War on the Eastern Front… Brutal, bloody and even more brutal again.

War in the West could be all of the above but had its gentler moments and even on rare occasions… humour.

I’m probably not explaining myself very well but all in all it might go a little way to explaining the limited (and I don’t mean strictly) appeal of the Pacific Campaigns.

But, of course, I’m ready and willing to be proved wrong!

2. Normandy Church Façade
You’ll be happy to know… we’ve only just begun to fight as far as facades go!

3. Civilian FiguresAffirmative… watch this space.

4. Cossacks
Many thanks for all the nice, appreciative comments. Take a look again at Gordon’s West Coaster Cossack diorama… photos attached.

5. Tanks and Figures
I’ve always said that a few figures can look great on their own… Add a tank or a vehicle and it looks even better… Put them both next to or in a diorama/display piece and… a little magic begins to come alive. Each can work well on its own but together…

Best personal wishes and happy collecting!
Andy C.

Great we got that pacific thing sorted and Civvies beauty, thanks matey.

Ok no Pacific - but how about Burma, Malaya etc? The General Slim club figure suggests something is on the cards. Maybe.
Who wouldnt want Chindits and Gurkhas and Anzacs?

Cheers Andy!:D
I agree about the war in the Pacific, although some of my mates who have seen my collection constantly ask me if King and Country do 'Pearl Harbour Soldiers'?

So maybe not combat soldiers, but how about some Pacific Americans?:)

Maybe expand the USAAF range and US Marines to make some figures and sailors from pearl harbour?:)

Out of my mates, there has been large interest in action figures at Peal harbour, like maybe sailor firemen, putting out a fire on a ships deck, or tanker fuelvehicle, or wounded being helped, or sailors firing up at attacking Japanese Zeros?:)

Although Peal Harbour is very sore subject, there is much interest in it.

Thanks for the thoughts Andy.

Although I like and have some of the Pacific figures you've done in the past (excellent by the way), if they don't sell, they don't sell. Results speak for themselves. So I understand your reasoning for not wanting to do any more of them.

I'm very happy to see the church facade coming out. Hope to see even more diorama structures in the future. Same about the civilian figures. They can be very useful for certain dios.:)

Good to hear about the facades Andy because the church piece is a beautiful piece. Are you planning to make them modular. What I mean is that the first NV as explained by John Jenkins was conceived by you and him to be a dynamic integrated village while the second NV was a bit more static (although very nice; I have them all). I'm wondering which approach you might be favoring.

I always like these posts from Andy. Nice to hear an "overview" of what the worldwide market is like.

I'm glad to hear about the church facade being the tip of the iceberg. I agree with Andy that the addition of a facade or scenic item really adds to a scene of vehicles and troops.

Thanks for posting Andy, good to hear your views.Great news on the facades and Civilians, would love to have more figures from the home front, the 'For you Fritz the War is over' set is a great example of how well these sets can work.

All the best mate

Rob

Regarding ' The Pacific ', we are very easy to please, just one item;
JFK's PT 109 with crew!!!

Thanks for the reply Andy...it's great to hear your explanation regarding the Pacific line. You better than anyone would certainly know what will work and what won't. Everything you do is incredible and I'll always have the ACW to fall back on.
You know, I also wonder if peoples familiarity with the Pacific campaigns don't have something to do with it. It is extremely hard for me to comprehend..but there are many, many individuals who just don't realize what went on in the pacific. I would assume collectors of this hobby of course do..but...I've been having quite a few discussions in my work environment with both women and men who for the most part were completely oblivious to what went on in the pacific (the HBO series spawned many conversations about this topic). They knew about Pearl Harbour of course, sort of knew what the flag raising on Iwo was...but all in all..thought WWII pretty much consisted of Normandy and the U.S fighting Nazis. Extremely sad in my opinion, and time for history to be reinforced in the school systems but that is an entirely different argument. Just makes me wonder if the overall public understanding of the pacific and how it related to WWII doesn't have something to do with the lack of sales. (I'm 40 and the majority of the physicians, hospital workers, and nurses were around my age frame so unfortunately the "youth" argument doesn't work either in trying to rationalize their lack of knowledge). Its not only about the Pacific either,a general lack of knowledge exists with many people regarding WW2.I had a woman of about thirty with her two children come up to me and ask where the battle of Britain was fought?.And another who would simply not accept that a British WW1 Tank was not a weapon to go under the English Channel and come up on the beaches of France.Sad but true.

Where the Battle of Britian was fought???????? That sounds like a bad joke.........

Rob et al....

Was it not Michael Caine who took his kids out of a US school when they taught the second world war began in 41??

I am sure I read that somewhere whether its true or not I do not know. Hope none of the US bloggers take offence

I notice most on this post that really don't care about a Pacific range are from the UK or Australia.I bet you will see a lot of Americans on the forum say they do or have just given up on KC making a Pacific range and hope someone else will.

It's a question of sales and K & C doesn't believe the sales they had justify making it again. Hopefully Figarti does well with theirs. I'm sure that if they sell, K & C may look at the issue again. This question, however, has been discussed often.

At this point, the horse has been beaten so badly it is nothing more than a pile of goo.........

This subject just goes round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round.

And round......
