Hi Guys, hi Alex,

Greetings and felicitations from the former Crown Colony of Hong Kong on this Christmas Eve.
Let me at once set our friend Alex’s heart and mind at ease that a small part of a recent post was somehow directed at “Battle Scene Productions” and both him and his partner Nick….
Nothing could be further from the truth… When it comes to having differences of opinion and comments on comments on Internet Forums both Nick and Alex are way, way down the scale on the K&C radar. Indeed, I and many of the K&C team are huge fans of BSP and their excellent work seamlessly blending terrific model building with first class computer graphics.
At the same time all of us owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the likes of Nick and Alex for their many, many years of dedicated public service in both the police and fire departments. Knowing how both men were seriously injured in the line of duty and how both are still suffering ongoing pain and discomfort it’s important that we should never forget their past contribution to our peace and safety. Thankyou Alex for reminding us again that you served at Ground Zero… This is a time none of us, no matter where we live in this world, will ever forget!
As you say Alex… you and Nick have dedicated your entire working lives to serving the public… not selling toy soldiers. However, in fairness to myself I did spend some time (in between collecting and selling) in Her Majesty’s Royal Marines… The Royal Hong Kong Police and The Royal Hong Kong Regiment.
But c’mon this is Christmas, the time of good cheer, let’s bury the hatchett (or if you prefer the fire axe) pour ourselves a cup of mulled wine and warm our chestnuts by an open fire!
And if you ever get to Hong Kong you’ll be sure of, I guarantee you, a warm (possibly tropical) welcome… NO PROBLEM,
Best Christmas wishes and happy model building!

Well said Andy.

As a former 20 year police officer lets not forget those in the Emergency Services (and Armed Forces) around the world who will be working, sometimes in dangerous conditions, whilst most forum members enjoy a safe holiday with theiur families.

However no open fires down under ! Unfortunately Christmas also happens to be the hottest time of year here. If anybody has some extra snow and can work out how to get it here it would be most appreciated^&cool

Merry Christmas to all,
Brett

Brett until a few days ago I could have helped you out with the snow . But it is gone now, 10-12°C the last few days and 40-60 liters of rain per square metre in the last 24 hours. We are now all drawning over here.Emergency services and the civil protection are on a 24h standby. No Xmas for them !!!!
guy:(

I'd like to second Andy's remarks here, as I type we have emergency services rescuing people from homes and Cars down in Devon and Cornwall as a result of severe flooding following a deluge of rain over the past 48 hrs, my deepest respects and admiration to those guys who put their lives in danger doing this.

I know the following is not related in any way at all, but as its Christmas and goodwill toward men, can I just extend my sympathies to all those parents who lost their children at the Sandy Hook elementary school killing, this must truly be a terrible time for them, can't even begin to imagine what they are going through.

Have a great one guys

Rob

I am aware of your Military and Police service and I respect you for that.

Also you are absolutely correct that meeting face to face gives a clarity of discussion that can't be achieved on a Forum. I can see in looking at my post that the "Selling Toys" didnt come out quite right.

Battle Scene Productions has been a bitter sweet experience. And I think most prefer to remember the bitter rather than the sweet. It is funny that on the heels of this post I just discussed with Nick the other day that I wanted to abolish Battle Scene Productions ( It is just a name ), Nick does not agree.

Our website subscription is up on Jan 18th, we have a new provider and we are working on a website that really looks nice, but while working on it I started to loose my motovation. I think we have done some good things, and we have a very different slant on the hobby which breeds controversy. That was never our intent.

It has bred so much hatred in some ways and we know who the parties are that try to poison our name and we know why in some cases. So as far as I am concerned it is over as we know it. I am tired and as I said Nick and I are really hurting on the outside with our injuries, but on the inside too. A hobby should not do that, it used to soothe our injuries.

We will gladly bury the hatchet ( There really isn't one ), despite me still noting an air of sarcasm in your statement, but we all tend to do that in a Froum atmosphere. I am starting to really dislike forums, texting, e-mail etc. It makes you loose your social skills.

I have never been able to get a point accross here, but in person I am clear as a bell.

Lets see what the New Year brings.

A Happy and Healthy Holiday Season to all

Alex and Nick

Alex...

Don't agree that you should change the name at all and, for what reason because some don't like what you do that is their lookout. just keep doing what you want.

Rob

Words can not even begin to explain how outrageous these actions are.....sniping firemen !

Yes .....2 Firemen were killed and I believe 2 wounded, the shooter supposedly killed himself also. There also have been one if not two other mass shootings since the one with the children.

I don't know what is going on. Most of you overseas probably dont even hear the news of what goes on in our cities, there are shootings daily. New Jersey where I live has at least 10 horrible cities including the city I worked in where there are shootings almost daily. Most related to gang warfare and drugs.

Units I served in were shot at a number of times in my 33 years of service.

I dont want to change the name I just want to do away with it. I just want to be like everyone else and post a diorama here and there. When I do work for someone I would just like to see the work posted by them not me.

I saw Pat Wade's beautiful collection room. I have been trying to put mine together for years, but I never have time.

I want to go back to enjoying the hobby not the pressure BSP has brought upon me. Alex

I cannot for the life of me understand how someone cannot like your work. Can anybody explain this?
Mark

Neil :salute::

I dont understand BS politics

Alex, so you were a firefighter for many years and that didn,t stress you out but building dioramas and what goes with it does?
Maybe you should give it up. You ate smoke for all those years don,t want your life ruined by something non life threatening as this.
Oh, and before you ask what I did, I was a policeman for 40 years!

Alex,

You don't know me, nor I you. I used to post on here rather regularly but haven't had the chance to for a while. I happened to log in today because I'm going to start selling some of my collection and decided to stop by the K&C forums while I was browsing.
I (thankfully) missed whatever controversy that sparked this exchange, but I wanted to let you know that as long I've been a part of these boards I've always loved your dioramas and photographs...truly works of art.
I had no idea you were a first responder...I was in NY during 9/11, and among those that I know who perished both during the attack itself and from the horrible ground zero after-effects were police and fireman.
Words can't convey my sense of gratitude for your service (and all those who continue to do so). I will be among many that will miss your dioramas, but if they are causing you more stress than it's worth, then by all means take a break and enjoy some well deserved rest.
Wishing you (and everyone on here) the happiest and healthiest of holidays.

Thanks Mark and all the rest for your favorable comments. I am still going to do scenes, but just not with the BSP name, and not as many as I have in the past.

It is funny how Andy's statatement came on the heels of something that came over me just hours before regarding personal thoughts I had concerning my participation in this hobby. I still love this, but I want to do it more for me. I am glad this also led to a peace between Andy and I during this joyous holiday. Alex

Alex, I would have to wholeheartedly agree with what some of the others have already stated. Your Dioramas are Eye candy and an example for all of us here to emulate. Maybe just a little break away from it all to recharge your batteries
but only you know yourself which direction or course of action you choose to pursue. We all hope your work will be around for years to come :salute::

Thanks again everyone for your kind words and support here in your PM's and e-mails..

We will still be doing what we do, but maybe not here and most likely not with the BSP name anymore. We want a fresh start in 2013 and we want to take what we have learned and take anything we have added to this hobby and do it better in the future.

We have made many friends and enemies in our 7 years. We now want do away with the enemies, as we now have the credibility with our friends to kick them to the curb and to join with our friends to really do it right this time.

We are not without falt, we have made many mistakes, but hopefully not any more. We will let everyone know what we are doing as soon as we know what we are doing :):):).

We feel we now see in this hobby what we were hoping for. There is still room for improvement and I am sure it will come. We dont want to fight anymore, we want to enjoy and be of help where ever we can. We want a place of peace.

This change of hart was not planned it came on suddenly, maybe with age. Andys letter moved me in a certain way, as did the little boy who wanted to be a Fireman and was shot dead. Life is short and you need to enjoy

Best
Alex

Just caught up reading the responses what if Nick does not agree you seem to have it all set will he continue with the BSP name?

Not sure that dropping the name will change the negative opinions that you have faced in any way shape or form. Still not sure about forum politics per se certainly entrenched views on what the hobby should be and, what should or should not be said from a few have strangled the hobby IMO but, they are weakening as the years go by. No crass comments about repaints conversions and dio's have come my way for quite some time and, new members, and some older ones on the whole are now are willing to say what they think about the hobby and everything in it.

Just crack on with the dio's and remember that evolution always wins over revolution!!

When I was a firefighter we always said you are only as good as your last performance at a fire. The bad is always remembered and good is forgotten. The name Battle Scene Productions means nothing, but to those we have inspired, if any, it does mean something. Thats what is important. But I think in the case of BSP the name provokes more negative.

Nick does not agree, if the name is gone it will have to be gone for both of us. I started BSP and then brought Nick in. We have had occasions where the detractors of BSP have tried to play Nick and I against each other. This can no longer be allowed to happen. We have those who have stated our work is not significant and we have made no impact on this hobby. We do know most of the players and the reasons for this

Remember this thread was started by Andy and I am just happy that the beginings of a peace between BSP and K&C has happened. But I know just by quotes in his statement ( Which only I made ) that we are not that low on the list. The abolishment of the BSP name shows our sincerity in wanting absolute peace and shows we have no interest in AGGRANDIZING.

I have some great ideas for evolution and I want no part of revolution. The revolution is over. That is exactly what this is about.

We have to end this now because I can smell an explosion coming, by those who will not read what I am actually saying and try to paint this as some kind of publicity stunt.

We dont need sympathy we are in the process of creating our own peace and for those who like our work and ONLY those who like our work, we will be there for you and better than ever, just in a different form

Alex
