I Just Got a Free Gift From Andy!

At the Symposium last week, Andy apparently had a cold and now...I have a cold, a nice one, too. Thanks Andy for the great gift  . I will treasure it for another few days. From what Shannon tells me Mike Neville also got a free gift :D :D :D

Re: I Just Got a Free Gift From Andy!

Was it a Strictly Limited edition?:p I guess I'll pass on this one....

What, and miss on a strictly limited historical reproduction of the Spanish Influenza virus courtesy of King & Country? But seriously Pierre, if you are thinking of coming you are certainly welcome. The more the merrier.

More seriously, I saw what I missed and that surely worths the seven days headache and slippery nose that will follow. Hope to be there.

Pierre.

Hi Guys,

Me again. First of all apologies to one and all for spreading my cold all over the entire North Eastern United States. What can I say …

You’ll be all happy to know I feel much better now, thankyou.

Re a couple of points...

1) Tanktracks like all aspects of modelling I and my team are always looking for ways to improve our models – and that includes our tracks. It will be a sad day when we ever think we cannot improve our vehicles … our figures or indeed any aspect of K&C.

First and foremost however must come strength and durability and at a price both K&C and the collector can afford.

2) “Dumbing Down”. A recent “poster” was concerned that as K&C continued to grow in popularity there might be a danger of us “dumbing down” our product line to appeal to a larger market.

I can categorically reject that assumption in no uncertain terms. K&C will, at least as long as I’m breathing, continue to devise and produce products for an intelligent collector market that appreciates top quality at a reasonable price.

3) Controversiality

The same “poster” (I think) also suggested that as we grew in general popularity we might stop some of our more “politically incorrect” series such as Berlin ’38.

As many of you who know me already know I and K&C are in the “history business”. And sometimes, not often, that literally means “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”. K&C makes figures for collectors – pure and simple. If some people are offended by “Berlin ‘38” and the LAH I’m sorry but they don’t need to buy it.

Some others might be offended by WW2 Germans in general – again their problem not mine.

I’ve even heard of people being offended by confederate troops … “well they were defending slavery!”

Some people will be offended by anything – that’s their God given right. It’s also my God given right to produce both what I feel some collectors are interested in and what I believe is commercial.

That’s my tuppence worth although I’m sure there are a few people out there only too happy to disagree with me…

Best wishes to one and all and … happy collecting.

Andy C.

Unfortunately, this is the gift that keeps on giving. Yesterday morning, I was hit by a dizzy spell where the whole world was spinning. Couldn't even move in bed and those unfortunate trips to the bathroom were even more enjoyable. I'm finally starting to feel semi human but still somewhat groggy.

I guess Andy was mad that I spelled his last name Nielsen and not Nielson a couple of times  . It really was the Hong Kong flu or should I now call it the K & C Flu!

Re: I Just Got a Free Gift From Andy!

I seem to recall this outbreak was forcast over twelve months ago. Australia is a relatively isolated but we currently have a strain that causes severe headaches muscular and joint pains as well as liver damage in some cases. Of course that's on top of the usual vomiting etc, it's not much fun I can tell you.

Re: I Just Got a Free Gift From Andy!

Add me to the list of favored recipients of the strictly limited Hong Kong Fluey. Luckily mine is contained as only a cold.

Re: I Just Got a Free Gift From Andy!

while i enjoyed meeting andy and louis extended a most gracious and exhilarating view of his collection and despite meeting some of the kand c great people such as shannon, mike and hans,i have been spared so far from andy's free gift.brad your were most kind to drive me to this "house of pestilence"and i am truly sorry you and all of the above aresuffering.i wish you all a speedy recovery and have my fingers crossed that since it is now 3/22 at 8pm i may be sprared andy's "free gift".i thought it was somewhat suspect when andy kept saying it was only an allergy.get well one and all
and next year i hope to be invited again.i promise to bring my own gas mask.
harvey
ps.mike im sorry i lost the paper you gave me in terms of reaching you.when you are feeling better, perhaps you can send me the info.

I also got the 'pandemic flu' practice run. Happily spreading it around the UK:rolleyes: As if I had a choice - nevermind, still worth it for the fun at the symposium:cool:

I just got over Andy's cold given to me at the North Bergen soldier show. It put me down for a week!!! I haven't even been sick in the past two years.

They do say K & C is contagious, but I think he's carrying it a bit to far imo :)

I think we need to quarantine Andy before next years Symposium. I am still sick, and I hear Hans and Brad are too.

Well, I just talked to Ed (halomeeps), who attended the Symposium, and he had a relapse, plus he gave it to his son, who is now on drugs, plus mine has probably degenerated into a sinus infection so I'm heading to the ear doc on Tuesday (not to mention my wife is ready to kill me).

Before Andy arrives in the US again, I suggest US Customs issue a health alert and at next year's Symposium we should all wear surgical masks.
