Reminds me of my Marx Castle when I was about 8 years old. The battlements came up to the Knights knees; very realistic! I agree that you could see the figures really well! Thus the Toy in Toy Soldiers. Remember the bags of toy soldiers with the tanks that were half the size of the figures, ah the good old days, 10 cent toys and worth every penny.

You must have been very upset when you got that fort. Hopefully the buyer did not make any further such gift mistakes when you were growing up {sm4}

My Archer spacemen were 4 inches tall and their spaceship was only 12 inches high. I never could get one inside for blastoff. My army men were too big for their tanks just like K&C figures today. Some thing never change!

Interesting post, never really understood those members who don't collect a certain brand of TS, (such as K&C) but seem to have this never ending over powering need to continually point out their perceived 'faults'.

I actually collect figures from all the major companies; K&C, TCS, TG, WB and Figarti. I use the 58-62mm WB and Figarti figures with 1/30 scale armor. The larger 65 to 70mm figures I use with 1/25 scale armor; that way I am not bothered by the heads of figures poking above the deck of the armor. Much more realistc that way IMO.

All the companies I have mentioned make good to very good figures; but the size varies from 58mm to 70mm and to be realistic armor and figures must be size compatable. The same thinking applies to fortifications. A figures head poking above the merlons of the battlements is not realistic to my eye. You need smaller figures or higher merlons.

It would seem to me realism is in the eye of the beholder. Being miniature in scale, Military figures can only approximate the real thing. They can never match it, no matter how detailed or exacting. Every miniature figure or vehicle was created by an artist, or artists. Metal or plastic will always fall short of flesh and cloth. Once we recognize and accept this, there is no need to get worked up over an interpretation you don't like. Find one you do prefer and move on. Every miniature made is a tiny little work of art. No one expects the POTUS to worry about such minutia. They have more important things, like most everyone e?

Nicely said. However I guess like 'Rutledge' I just don't get that worked up about these things and prefer to enjoy the hobby for what it is.

We all have different expectations for the products were purchase and the forum is all about discussing these things, however there is a fine line between constructive criticism and simply being negative.

Constructive criticism is valuable feedback to a manufacturer. Having a problem pointed out prior to production can allow for a problem to be corrected. I understand that not everyone considers oversize figures to be a problem; but many do. First Legion has become very sucessful by producing figures and armor that are size compatable. I use W. Britains 60mm figures with 1/30 scale armor to realize the same size compatability. I collect Medieval and Roman figures too; so size compatability between figures and fortifications, seige engines etc, is important. I really like the K&C Roman fort and I will probably purchase it; however I will use smaller figures to assure realism in the display.

I'm not going to enter the scale debate, that 'donkey' has been thrashed to death since Adam was a lad, along with comparing FL with K&C products, which is like comparing apples with oranges and a no brainer for me.

Right now rising prices are my biggest concern and affordability.

As long as you enjoy what you're doing, then that's what really matters.
