Well Brett... "retired" or "not retired".... The point at this time is relatively mute....The "retired products game" used in the past by some TS manufacturers to create panic buying does not work so well any more....All that did was drive up prices for everyone...that party had to end sometime....And guess what?? TS are not an investment{eek3}....Most collectors are now being very selective in their purchases and not getting sucked in by the hype.....Products are going to be scrutinized much more by collectors based on quality/price....Prices in this hobby are out of control......Dealers may have more "stagnant inventory" then they care to admit.{eek3}
Frank,
As anybody can see you would much prefer the system where items disapear from inventory without
any prior notice.
Personally as a dealer I like to know when a manufacturer is going to run out of an
item so I can make a decision if I want to order more in. Other non K&C brands I deal in also provide
dealers with such information (in one case they actually let us know how many left sometimes).
As regards panic buying I think you will find all brands want collectors to buy their product as quickly as
possible and you can see examples of how they do it (ie. limited number items is a very obvious one
used by various brands). How each collector reacts to various marketing methods is up to them but
it seems odd to blame a manufacturer for doing its job which is to promote their sales.
A minor point. If a dealer has "stagnant inventory" then I am not sure it is the fault of the manufacturer
but perhaps the over enthusiasm of the dealer. I certainly have too many of some items (in some cases
I regard one as too many) but dont blame my suppliers for it.
Regards
Brett
