Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the very positive response to the latest info I posted. Re a couple of bits…

1. “Flies on the Wall.”
I know some of you would like to “sit-in” on our K&C discussion sessions and/ or when we’re showing the pre production “masters” and castings. Sadly, no can do however after reading what some of you manage to ascertain or guess what we’re up to I’m not so sure a few of you don’t have the ability to transform yourselves into insects of the flying variety!!!

2. “St. Vith/ Malmedy Signposts”
All will be revealed in a couple of days…

3. “Next Spitfire…”
As promised to our American cousins a wee while ago… the spit scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2011 is a Mk II of the “American Eagle Squadron” as a tribute to the brave U.S. flyers who flew with the Royal Air Force before America entered the War.
Just 250 are being released.

4. “Achtung Spitfire
As there were 24 different marks of Spits produced I would not be surprised if K&C produced more than one or two different versions!!! But all in good time…

5. Me. 262 “Night fighter”… Gloster Meteor
They are already on my list… but I appreciate the suggestion.

6. “Big, big boats”
Now, I know it’s none of my business however I do like Naval Warfare of the Napoleonic era so here’s just my tuppence worth…

If K&C had wanted to sail into those particular waters I would have made a 1:30 scale model of a 28 gun frigate like “HMS Surprise”. It could be more authentic… a realistic scale model and… a darn sight less expensive.

But hey, what do I know?

Best wishes to one and all,
Andy C.

Thanks Andy,

Point 1. Flying insect collectors, the mind boggles :D;). Although some of us do turn into bats after darkness and can fly great distances in search of info!. Maybe K&C could do a slightly revised version of that old WW2 poster ' Keep mum, collector's are not so Dumb'!

Point 2, ah ha! I knew it!!:)

Point 4, Good news!

Thanks for keeping us updated, hope to see you in London,Cheers

Hi Andy, I'm sure that you know how to make a Prussian Napoleonic Horse Artillery Team at the full gallop!;):D

Excellent news about a brit spitfire I know its probably a bit nationalistic but, A marked up pure brit version is a must. Don't suppose if I kept saying it I could have a specific squadron????

I thought ''flies on the wall'' was going to be some new range!!!

I think the sign posts will be a great addition to all the dio builders big and small.

262 nightfighter great idea as is the inclusion of the Meteor.

Looks like we have just had an extra dispatch without pictures.. I also think by the last bit and another zing at competition that Andy has had his three shredded wheat for sure this morning!!!!!

Hate to quibble mate but the man did say that if " The British Empire would last a thousand years men would still say this was their finest hour"
I don't think Sailor Malan and few others spoke with an Oxbridge accent.

Mitch/Damian, with around 24 Mks of Spit and many more years of K&C theres every chance we will over time see many more Spits in different camo schemes and with different Pilots from different nations. This summer has been a great celebration of pilots from all nations who came to this country and in the words of Currahee Chris gave the Luftwaffe a 'Glorious thumping' . There are weapons of War that become Iconic like the Tiger and some that seem to represent a country and a moment in History, the Spitfire is one such. I wouldn't mind betting in a few years time we will see another Spitfire in the same scheme as just released, its beyond famous and will always be popular.

I'm as proud an Englishman as they come, but any Pilot of any nation who joined this country and whupped Goering is a friend of mine and welcome in my collection:cool:

Was the Hurricane release a named Pilot or just generic?

Damian...

Thanks for the reply and I have not forgotten the sacrifices made by many nations and if you caught any of the threads you would know where I am coming from on this subject.

I am so close to the Spitfire and the battle through family and have grown up with this one battle being seen as the turning point of the war, the first great defeat for the Nazi's and, I am proud to be an Englishman for this and many other reasons.

The Spitfire, is the iconic emblem of the BOB and what was done in a few short months and, the aircraft itself is the main focal point and, I am sure you understand that my asking for a representation of an english version is not, in any way, diminishing the commonwealth et al assistance that was given.

I don't think I am asking too much for an English pilot whether oxbridge or not (my grandfather was not oxbridge nor, were substantial numbers of english pilots: a myth about the ''what what'' biggles type of pilot that fought) just represent this area with an english version. I can fully see why K&C have done a Kiwi and a forthcoming US version and, it does not diminish how excellent the fighter itself is lets just say, its the cherry on the cake for me.

Rob...

I think the Hurricanes were generic and not if I remember allotted to any particular pilot though I may be wrong

Hey Rob, time to ditch your country estate and move in to a hangar!:D

I'm wondering why this kind of comment is necessary . The Victory is darned impressive. If you think you can make the HMS Surprise, then why don't you? ;)

I think I also mentioned both zingers, either of which were really not needed but, can I ask why does it seem the one at Figarti is worth critique and the one against TG not?
Mitch

Both comments were not necessary and cheap.

Just like the outing of FL's new Stalingrad range sometime ago

Says a lot about someones values IMHO.

Cheers

So guys, re point 2, is that St Vith sign coming with another new vehicle do we think???

Rob

Looks like Andy can make some nasty comments too. :( The remark about the TGM FW-190 is quite harsh. No need to gloat over the production problems of another manufacturer, especially when TGM admits to having problems, that aircraft are difficult to produce, and for the time being will not produce any more aircraft. I suppose andy's harsh comment was in reaction to the roasting his FW-190 went through, but it did have errors and the roasting was not from TGM. Really no justification for Andy's comment IMO.

As for the comment about Figarti HMS Victory, Andy seems to be saying what he would do if he was going to produce a ship. But he isn't, so there was no need for Andy to comment on this at all. I didn't take it so much as a criticism of Figarti as it was his opinion of how he would do it. I think some members take offence at almost anything. Lucky dueling is outlawed or the Forum would have many fewer members.

As for the outing of FL, I don't even remember that so it couldn't have been too outstanding.

Rob...

It kind of hinted at maybe sets of signs or, at least thats how it came over to me. If it comes with something great and if it comes with others great so, I am all for signs and other similar dio stuff being released as many have to use a lot of 1/35th scale stuff or, create on computer etc which, although not hard is time consuming and for me, tedious
Mitch

What's wrong with a few snarky comments among competitors? It seems perfectly natural to me, and a pleasant relief from the encroaching demands for constant politically correctness.

Need anyone be reminded, the economy is tight and discretionary spending, which this hobby relies on, has been decimated. At the same time the number of toy solider companies vying for those same but fewer dollars/pounds/etc has greatly increased (CS/TG/FL/JJ/etc). For the folks running any of those companies its not "just a hobby". Its very serious business -- not to mention a livelihood. Only the naive are surprised when such tensions show themselves at times.

When times are good and there is enough largesse for everyone, combatants may not feel the heat so much. Now is not that time. The "easy money" has been made. It will be a slog-fest among the providers from now on. Especially given the very subdued nature of the so-called "recovery",

With every purchase we all cast votes as to our preferences. That speaks with the loudest voice of all.

Rutledge...

Certainly not naive and, my friend PC is in place for the benefit of people and, sad to hear that you hold it in so low regard.

Its also nothing to do with PC in this discussion as many have said its about cheap digs and unecessary comments. I don't see other manufacturers doing it and, regardless of market contraction it does not show K&C in a good light IMO and a few others on here
Mitch

I am sorry to hear ( for me the first time) that TGM has struggled so and will not do aircraft for a while. Now while some will see Andy's comment as rude, my perspective in reading this is we all take for granted the vehicles and aircraft K&C produce. To me it points out just how tough the whole process is to do right!
K&C and Andy does what any great entepreneur, creator or athelete does...THEY MAKE IT LOOK SOOOO EASY!!!
Who among us has not seen a great athlete do something and you say " I can do that" just to find it rediculously tough to even poorly mimick?
Thank god for Andy and what he makes look so easy!
Ray
P.S. I say Andy but I'll include all the manufacturers on this site.
