Was asked by a long time and valued customer some time ago now if I could get hold of a decent German u-boot file. Managed to get hold of a couple of files in the end and ended up digitally kitbashing the files together to create this. We had to agree some sacrifices in proportions and detail to keep it short enough (155cm!) to fit his display case (should be closer to 2m in this scale). In the end this was the design we agreed on so it's a fair representation of this particular u-boot model and he's over the moon with it. Took longer to paint than I originally envisaged (often my problem when quoting for models this large ) but overall I'm happy with how it came out. Main problem was the weathering which took a while and is always one of those jobs that can go on and on so at some point you have to stop. If anyone is wondering the railings are held by blutac currently, to be glued in place by the customer as I doubt they'd survive postage if I glued them here :)

Looks fantastic Paul 👍🏻👏🏻

Your customer will be very happy with it for sure.

Yes they certainly will need a big cabinet/ diorama to display it on.

Once again fantastic Psul and just goes to show what 3D printing can achieve !

Many thanks Steve. I was fortunate to find high quality files in the first place which did help. :)

Amazing, hate to know the cost.
You may be surprised, but it was a fraction of the price of the Collectors Showcase version :) Admittedly their quality is obviously far superior to this 3d print but that's that's the trade off I suppose. Doing it this way does allow people to access models that may otherwise be out of their price range, and they can still have something nice to display in their cabinets with their figures.

Looks outstanding, i have some pieces from DireWolfScenics, Roman and WW2, all have been excellent.

The submarine looks great, which will make a brilliant diorama, much better than my submarine diorama, see it below,
