Wondering if any of the model builders on this forum know of after market decals for 1/30 scale (or, failing that, 1/32) WW1 German aircraft. JJD's new Lothar von Richthofen Fokker Triplane is evidently going to be produced with the wrong cross style. I need to know if I can get Maltese cross decals in that large a scale so I can correct the error. Can anyone help? Thanks. -- Al

Al...

The best option IMO would be to search the web find the ones you want then save them to your computer making them the right size and, then buy some wet decal paper and some fixing spray and print them out yourself.

The spray makes them water resistant and can be cut out before dipping.

It would take about half an hour and, you can make a great many from the A4 paper and save money

Thanks for the info, Mitch. Mai have to do this. Problem is computer skills are insufficient for this, and I have no printer.{sm2} Maybe I can recruit our daughter, as she knows computers, plus she has a printer. I will start searching. -- Al

Have you contacted John at all to see if the mistake has been caught and these could just be pre-productions photos?

Al,

Cutting Edge decals makes set CED 32067 in 1/32 scale. The decals alos include an illustration of the correct scheme for Lothar's tripe.

To the best of my knowledge, no one makes aircraft decals in 1/30 scale. It is not a common modelling scale and there are no WW-I aircraft kits in this scale.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Chuck. I'll check it out.:smile2: -- Al P.S.- Just looked them up and it looks like what might be needed. Color scheme looks about the same as JJD's as there is some speculation to actual scheme. Many thanks again for the info.

Just to add to this and I am no expert by any means but my thought is that if the transfers are water slide they are on clear material therefore the new transfers may not cover the old one completely?

I think printing onto paper and cutting them out and gluing on would be too thick? But would possibly cover the crosses.

Good points. Might have to do something about removing the old crosses before putting on the new. Hopefully the problem can be corrected at the factory. -- Al
