2009 OTSN - King and Country (1 Viewer)

Gentle Friends,

Attending OTSN is never complete until you visit Andy Neilson and his King and Country room. Andy always has spectacular dioramas displayed that were built by his brother, George. George possesses outstanding modeling skills and his work reflects this fact.

A crowd is always present in Andy's room and, consequently, taking photographs of the dioramas is a serious challenge. Nevertheless, I managed to snap a few photos to share with all of you.

Another of Andy's wonderful dioramas feature small submarines in a submarine base. Though I do not have a photo of it, one of the submarines in the diorama is floating on real water. I know this to be true because I placed my elbow in it as I was framing one of the pictures.

Andy is also in the process of introducing a new line depicting the Life of Jesus. A small diorama presented these new figures quite nicely as you will see below:

The last photo I am presenting tonight is a model of the famous Menger Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. This photo is somewhat special to me as I have stayed in the Menger. The Menger is one of the locations in which Teddy Roosevelt recruited Rough Riders. He performed this act in the Menger Hotel Bar.

The Menger is also located next door to remains of the historic Alamo. To stay at the Menger is a special treat for K&C fans, because not only is the hotel located next to the Alamo, the San Antonio K&C Toy Soldier store is located on the ground level floor of the Menger.

I hope you have enjoyed this tour of Andy's King and Country room. Soon, I shall take you on a tour of another interesting room.

The Normandy diorama is the best one Gordon has ever done (naturally I say that now until I see his next work of art then I will say THAT one is the best one he has ever done, but for now, this one is my all time favorite)............

Thanks for the wonderful photos..by the way i'd like to see one of the Gift Figure given to the participants..maybe i'm wrong but i haven't seen it anywhere yet.

Below are some photos of the Gift Figure by King & Country given to the dinner guests at the Chicago Show. It's a Polish WWII soldier and the figure is outstanding. The figure merits a better backdrop, but there it is.

Hello Shannon, It was wonderful meeting you and Peter. Thank you both for your generous hospitality. I was impressed and I was touched.

And to the rest of you, have a look. Shannon and Peter had a figure all of their own for Treefroggers who wanted to recognize one another at the show - a military frog! See the photo below. It's a pin on for shirts and sweaters, and I love it .
