Well Chicago has come and gone, and now it's off to the UK in a few short months for the December London show! with all the talk about changes/venues etc. I am hoping the good fellows of the UK/and other European collectors from other countries will give the new place/location a welcome, needless to say the UK members on this forum cover all the Londons shows very well, no offense to anyone here but I wish we had some of the UK collectors covering the West Coaster/Chicago shows, anyway looking forward to hearing about the new digs and tons of pics from the fellows, and of course all the bar stories you can print:)...Sammy

Will do Sammy! There is indeed some concern all round about the new venue, but we are going to give it a go and hopefully have another great show. I'll be going up town in the next few weeks to scout out a watering hole for us all, and you can bet your dinner Sammy we will be taking loads of pics as usual.

All the best

Rob

Glad to hear it my good mate, I'm sure the venue will be just as fun and sometimes change is a good thing, plus your going to be bringing home some soldiers and hanging out with other collectors, a win-win situation!! now off you go to find that cut-rate liquor store for the gang:)...Sammy

5 more weeks to go.
who come to the new location
and we have already found a bar
See you in December. {sm3}

I'm starting to worry a little"? Only 5 weeks to the big London show and very little discussion going on? I really hope that the new location isn't putting collectors off? ...Sammy

Don't worry Sammy, all the usual suspects will be there and reporting as normal, I'm going up to the center in the next four weeks to check out the bar in the Hotel next door to it. There are plenty of pubs nearby but they are further away. We may have to change the time of our meet up too. I think the show starts later in the new venue so maybe will put back meet up time to give the late arrivals a chance to see show before hitting bar.

Thanks Martyn, very helpful of you.

Wow, early bird not until 9am now{eek3} Right , so with some folk not arriving until after 11am we will have to put our meet up right back, maybe something like 2.30 or 3.00pm. Have just written to the usual suspects setting out new position and asking opinions on change of time, any thoughts please post here. Will check hotel bar and get back to you guys.

It would appear that I have the choice of paying for an early bird entry or hang around outside for more than half an hour waiting to get in! Not a good start, really wish that Guideline had thought this one through a bit better.

Rob, regarding the bar meeting time - 2.30pm is usually when I start setting off for the train home so 1pm would be good for me which allows a good 3 hours before hand to wander round taking photos etc.

I think its the Hilton hotel next to the business centre thats being talked about. I have stayed there a number of times and their bar is very nice but, they are quite conservative in their approach.

Some nice bars in the area a few minutes walk including Alemeida and fredericks and, the pitcher and piano.

Would suggest that the first thing would be to check the venue to see if there is a bar there, secondly I agree with Jeff, 1300 hours is quite late enough, after all most of the Treefroggers only bother with two or three traders at the most so that shouldn't take too long. Also if we end up in the Hilton, which is a bit snobby, who is going to restrain Rob once he gets a few drinks on board. Come to that who is going to restrain the restrainer? Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Trooper

I will be the epitome of a gentlemen :wink2:

Well guys, you all need to take a vote or draw straws I think, I'll be there from about 6am onwards so anytime is fine with me.Hopefully the others may want a 1pm start so Jeff and Alan can get away on time. I know Bob is staying up town so he will probably be pretty flexible, Simon is normally there quite early. James is normally about 10.30 ish, it all depends if they want to stop seeing the show so soon after 11am start. Anyway I've written to all so I await opinions.

I don't think we should worry about the Hilton being too posh, its got to be the best bet as its so near, also may be quieter than a normal pub on a Saturday afternoon. As I say I'll check it out and local pubs anyway and get back to you, stay tuned to this frequency over next few weeks.

I hope Simon has a lot of pull with the local constabulary, either that or plenty of bail money in his pocket. :smile2:

Hi Rob

I would double check that you can get in, from what I understand Traders are not allowed in until 0800hrs on the Saturday morning. You don't want to be loitering around Upper Street or Chapel Market that time on a Saturday^&grin

Cheers
