30mm napoleonics (5 Viewers)

Ray, very nicely done on your latest project. The buildings are perfect for your flats, and each shows the other off very nicely.

You've got quite a collection!

Thanks PJ, I'm really enjoying this, for me the buildings were a wonderful find I stumbled upon.
By the way I finally found "The Art of the Flat Tin Figure", just a great book and everything that everyone said it was, invaluable! the Irony is my search on Ebay and Amazon around the world and I couldn't find an acceptble copy for an acceptable price. finally found this one for $95.00 new and when it arrived it came from El paso, Tx. not 40 minutes down the road!
Here's some new additions Carbiniers and Cevauleger lancers.

Who painted these figures - love the animated style.

PJ,
I bown down before the flat gods on a daily basis and thank them for the bountiful joy they bring to my life! I don't know the artists name, he resides in St Petersberg and only recently discovered that I am dealing with an intermidiary????^&confuse I'm not complaining but it does pose a mystery that I will solve some day, I haven't really pressed it.

I suspected it might be St. Pete because of the painting style. His style looks great for displays, etc.: bright colors, great flesh tones, nice uniform details, and outstanding flags. Whoever it is, keep him!!

Thanks PJ,

I really like the style, bright colors is perfect for the napoleonic period. I'll find out soon who the artist is and let you know.:salute::

Hi Ray,

Sorry I've been AWOL on this site for a while. Work and getting ready for MFCA have left me little time for keeping up here.

I attended MFCA last weekend and have a report on the show on the BFFS website - from the flat world persective. You can see my latest work there as well.

Here's a link:

http://www.britishflatfigures.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3020

Thanks for posting pictures of those great Russian-painted flats. I have pointed a few others to this thread to show them how attractive flats can be when displayed with enthusiasm and some basic groundwork.

Pj,
Thanks for the link, some very nice work there, seems to be all large scale, very well done. would you say that is the way the hobby's heading, larger scale?
I think you'll enjoy my next display, still working on it but it's relatively huge (still 30mm though)

In the collector world, I think 30mm and sets are still very much sought. In the painting world, most of us are getting older and need the extra real estate of larger scales to make up for our failng eyes!

PJ! you modest fellow, word has it you won an award at the 70th Annual MFCA show?(PJ) Deluhery won a bronze in the Historical, Painters division, for "Templar Flat".
Would you be so kind as to post a picture of your work that we may all admire??^&grin Please???

I wanted to start loading some pics of the latest project, very time consuming and I'm still not finished with construction. Am trying to find a large enough area to display **lly. I'll start at the front.
