30mm napoleonics (1 Viewer)

Ray,

If you enjoy the "watercolors look", I think you would enjoy the old Historex postcards. I will use them for "inspiration" when painting.

Russ,
Can't say I'm too familiar with them, can you post some pics?
Ray

Ray,
Check this website out, it is by John O'Brien and he has done a remarkable job displaying the Historex plates. http://members.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/nap_uniforms/

Martin,
Andre Jouineau has produced a number of books dealing with Napoleonic uniforms. Fortunately there are numerous works to consult varying in the "basic" to first-hand sources.

Hello Martin,
I have seen those on amazon, but never in hand, i think I have seen much of that style in a couple of books I have by F.G. Hourtoulle called Borodine and another Austerlitz, computer animated with unit from the battles uniform colors displayed. Very good though the translation REALLY leaves something to be desired

Yes it's the same style but I don't think you'll need to wory about the translation though, they're packed with images. As I said there's nothing new in them but I've got fourty years worth of references all over the place and this just pulls it all together!

Hey Ray,

Your photos are spot-on! Very well done. Great figures.

I love the flat trees used for background. Have a bunch myself that are unpainted. You're inspiring me to put them on my workbench again, though I choke at doing anything "natural"!

Thanks PJ,
Foilage can be scary, thats why I buy it done already! I also got some really nice winter pieces I'm working on. I wish it was like this!

Ray, I had never seen flats before this forum. They're really unusual but very attractive, and your pics show them off beautifully. Very nice dio work as well.

Cheers,

Joe

Joe,
I think thats one of the best comments you could have said about this thread. Glad I was able to show you something new, Though it is one of the oldest forms of toy soldiers in history. Thank you as well for the compliment on my limited photographic skills.
Ray
