30mm napoleonics (1 Viewer)

Wow! - Thanks for the link to the website of "Soldats de la Collection de JB Segom!" Thse Knight figures would be just up my Street! I absolutely love painting up Knight Figures in 54mm - and like to find castings that can be tweaked/adapted by changing weapons/arms/heads etc, - and then researching the "actual" armorial devices of real Knights of Old - and then painting them. I've done quite a few of these - and have another five such figures on order at the moment - with 5 Knights already earmarked to convert them to.

Here's a few that I've done already ( All 54mm conversions):

After a bit more practice at the somewhat simpler Flat figures I've already had a go at - I will be buying some of those Flats, for sure. Great that they come from France too - as I try to spend at least six months over there, so will be easy to source for me.

They will have to wait a bit though - as I have ordered another five sets of figures from BZ (yesterday), all 30mm Flats - totalling 61 figures. (I ploughed through all of the Flea Market site - and bought some bargains).

Also like the four figures which follow the British Stamps - which I remember well, from a few years ago. I think I still have a set of those - as I liked them when they came out a few years ago. They represent Knights from the four Nations of the UK. If you know where they come from - yes - please let me know.

Thanks again for getting me into these Ray - and for the links. Much appreciated - jb.{sm4}

Ohh Jb,
Your very welcome, glad I could add to your pleasure, don't know if they actually have a shop but that might be interesting? If they do maybe you could get some pics while you're playing "The Continental"?^&grin
My interest in knight tends more toward the crusades at this point, but I'm sure the undertow of great subject matter can drag me under, did you notice the Joan of Arc set? that definitely got me thinking....

Their address is given on the web-site - and it's really a district on the South East of Paris. Don't know if they have a shop, though maybe they do?(http://www.figurines-soldats.com/).

I avoid Paris, wherever possible - as the traffic around there is always crazy!!- so doubt I'll be venturing there. I'll be more than pleased for our French Posties to do the driving for me - and as my deliveries will be from France to France - postage should be low. My local Posties know about my hobby - and take good care of any packages for me - as I always give them a nice tin of chocolates for Xmas. They love UK chocs - which are VERY expensive to buy over there - and ( they tell me), nobody else ever gives them anything for Xmas. Amazing how much goodwill that £5 insurance brings!!!:D

You bet I noticed Joan of Arc - with her Jhesu et Maria Banner! That will be on my list - for sure. Again, here's one I did earlier of "The Maid" - which is a conversion from an old Britains recast figure. Some of their other offerings are also outstanding - and ALWAYS available as unpainted - which seems to be a feature of Flat producers (UNLIKE MANY - though not all - 54mm fully round producers - who WILL NOT sell you unpainted castings).

Cheers Ray - johnnybach

Johnny B you do get around don't you?
I really like what you did with Joan, lots of detail.
I pulled these from the IFFS site as long as we're talking about the maiden.
Did you ever see the movie "The Messenger" with Milla Jovovich, crazy but good

Directed and co-written by Luc Besson in the 1990's. Yes - caught "The Messenger" on late night TV a few years back. Good portrayal, I thought.

Also like the IFFS site pics. you posted. The problem for me, at the moment, is that I don't know where to find the Flats sites that sell all of the pieces that I like, as I'm pretty new to them. I'm getting there though, as often one site leads on to others. You are also a mine of information on them - which is why I sometimes ask you for a bit more information about pieces you show here. Time will solve that - as the more I dig around the web - the more I find out.

When I make up my 54mm figures from kits/parts/recasts and sometimes original broken parts - I try to show where I got my parts - and how I did the conversion - because I know that there are others out there who might like to try it too.

There are a few versions of Joan - on that French web-site you posted earlier. There's a nice mounted version with her with Standard in the mini-collection part of the site - as well as a set of her entering Orleans under "Chevalerie".

Excellent site - very handy - and they take Paypal too ^&grin- thanks for that one Ray. :D jb

Looks as if one of your sets of pictures - show a galloping figure of Joan of Arc from the web-site that you tipped me off about. -- www.figurines-soldats.com --

I like this set - so when I get back to France - later on this year - I think I may very well order the whole set, which looks right up my street. Thanks Ray. jb

JB,
I'll be looking forward to that, for me this single Joan and the set will with the possible exception of the bannerman for the king of Jerusalem.
PS: still waiting for that amgbnificent Elephant and gun set???^&grin

In the pipeline - might show you progress on one of the Elephants soon. I'm also painting a 54mm Army Air Corps Band (54mm fully round) alongside them. These require a lot more work/modification - and have been at the back of the bench for far too long - so concentrating efforts there - at the moment. jb

One of the great flat artist of all time, the late Russian Dochkine, once again 30mm, check out the detail on Solomons throne

Thanks for the close-ups of some of the horses, Ray - I'm painting one at the moment - and got a few tips from that dark-brown one - and was able to follow the highlighting on the horse muscles nicely.:salute::jb

Wolfgang,
there is a lot of really wild subjects out there in flats, seems engravers like to on occasion indulge there wild fantasies, some of the castings and art work in flats out there is just plain Unpostable! seems it's treated as just plain old stuff there. what I've posted here is absolutely mild, must be some wild weekend and after the battle action on the continent?!?!?!?!!{eek3}:p

A village being built in 30mm for a museum flat display and some actual clothes worn/owned by Napoleon, check out the Cape! and the mercedes... well it really doesn't matter where you put that car... it's never out of place!
