Dear All
This must rank as one of our biggest releases as we celebrate our 4th
Anniversary and hopefully something for everyone as they say! Starting with
Ancient Britons and Celts we then move onto the 1800's with a Napoleonic
release, following swiftly on, our new FFL range set in the early 1900's
makes an appearance and then onwards and upwards to WW2 and the Naughty
Forties! All our pieces are limited to 100 in number and will be available
in early August. If you are not reading this newsletter via your own private
email and wish to do so, then please do not forget to register for The Gunn
Club via our website

Ancient Britons and Celts
The launch of a new range for us covering some exciting figures from
history, albeit from a very long time ago. Our first figures comprise 6
magnificent Celtic horsemen charging into battle against the Roman invaders.
ABC001; Armed with an ornate looking spear our first Celtic warrior rushes
headlong into battle, looking for some unlucky Roman soldier to add to his
body count!
ABC002; Shouting a battle cry, mounted on a white horse and thrusting his
spear upwards, this warrior is prepared to kill as many Romans before he too
meets his maker!
ABC003; Blowing into his Carnyx this warrior urges his fellow warriors to
follow him into battle.
ABC004; Riding a brown horse and waving a sword this warrior swings his
sword back as he charges the hated Romans.
ABC005; A beautifully decorated warrior chief armed with a spear surveys the
battlefield before taking on the Romans. Note the unlucky trophy head tied
to the horses bridle!
ABC006; A warrior riding a black horse shouts a war cry as he holds his
sword up in the air.
These figures are approximately the same size as K&C and Collectors Showcase
figures, for those of you already collecting from this era. Only 100 have
been made of each cavalry figure and are priced at $80 each.
Napoleonic 1st Chasseurs a Cheval Officer
NAP023: A single figure in a magnificent uniform, great for any diorama with
a group of other French officers or on his own. This is Colonel Simonneau of
the 1st Chasseurs a Cheval. Simonneau served in and eventually commanded
one of Napoleon's finest cavalry regiments the 1st Chasseurs a Cheval.
Simonneau saw service in most of the Emperor's campaigns, fighting at Ulm
and Austerlitz, advancing into Russia with the Grande Armee and returning to
Napoleon's side during the Hundred Days in 1815. This figure is $35 and
limited to 100 available worldwide.
The French Foreign Legion has already become one of our best-selling ranges
in a very short time, we get more request for this range than any other set
of figures. So rather than keep everybody waiting we have produced 6 more
action packed figures with heaps more to follow soon! Please note that this
time there will be an A and B version with both versions limited to 100 sets
and all priced at $69 per set of 2 figures. We have shifted production of
these figures to a new factory and the quality is visibly improved in my
opinion. However the new factory has made these new figures ever so slightly
smaller than the first release, by around 2mm give or take a millimetre! I
am sure for most of you it will not make any difference as we all know in
real life; some people are taller and some are smaller than others! However
forewarned is forearmed as they say!
FFL 004; Comprises an officer with sword standing next to a fellow soldier
who has just been wounded. The A version figures from this set are both
wearing the more traditional white kepi whilst the B version officer sports
an eye patch and the B version soldier wears the khaki French style colonial
Pith hat, introduced around 1886 and used from 1900 by FFL forces operating
in North Africa.
FFL005; Comprises a kneeling soldier hastily reloading his rifle with the
second figure sat on his backpack taking careful aim at the Tuareg attacking
his platoon. Our A version sport white kepis whilst the B version figures
both wear khaki pith hats.
FFL 006; To bolster the firing line we have introduced a new lying down
figure with the A version wearing the Kepi and the B version wearing a head
bandage, but probably not by choice I might add! Our second figure from this
set is in an alternate kneeling firing position, not covered yet in this
range. The A figure wears a white kepi and the B version sports a colonial
style Pith hat.
Two more FFL will follow next month and then hopefully after that some
mounted legionnaires!
Naughty Forties
NF002 The Dancers: After what seems like a very long time we have finally
produced a second set of figures to accompany our first. This new sets
comprising a very happy sailor dancing with 'Tonights Girlfriend' and really
do I need to say anymore? We have 2 versions on offer, a European Blue
uniformed sailor with a blonde goddess and a tropical uniformed sailor all
in white with a dark haired beauty. Both sets priced at $69 and limited to
100 sets worldwide! More of these exotic figures are in the pipeline and we
will see more additions sooner rather than later.
SS Engineers
SS051 The Crossing: Not quite as long a wait as the Naughty Forties but long
enough in my book for some SS figures, we go back to WW2 in the form of two
SS engineers with a dinghy. Although not evident from the photo, two spare
rifles are included for our soldiers and can be placed in the bottom of the
dinghy. Limited to 100 sets & priced at $80, a must buy for all you WW2
aficionado's!
Anniversary Set
FJ009 Rocket Man: For the last 3 years running we have always let the
release date of our Anniversary figure slip and it always seems to make an
appearance after the date of our anniversary, but for once we managed to
plan ahead and get our figure out on time! TGM003 'The Rocket Men' was one
of my favourite sets and its been the inspiration for our new anniversary
set. Seventy years ago in 1943 the Bazooka was introduced by US forces in
North Africa, which was quickly adapted by the Germans after samples fell
into their hands. The Germans named their tank killer 'Panzerschreck' or
sometimes known as 'Stovepipe' by its operators. The first versions
necessitated the operator wearing a special hood or gas mask to avoid damage
to the eyes from the projectile fumes, as it exited the weapon. A shield
weighing nearly two Kilos was added in 1944 which then negated the need for
the hood/gas mask. However this was an unpopular weighty addition and troops
frequently removed the shield to lighten their load. To circumnavigate the
fume problem, soldiers often wore goggles or if not available their issued
gas mask. Our Normandy A version Paratrooper figure comes in late war
'Knockensack' and wears the obligatory liberated US army goggles to protect
his eyes. Please note on the final production sample the goggle frames have
been painted a dark grey colour, not the brown you see in the attached
photo. For our winter B version, an SS paratrooper from Battalion 600 makes
an appearance, gas mask donned as he stalks Allied tanks during the Battle
of the Bulge campaign. Limited to 100 sets of each version and priced at $35
this great little set will not be around for long I promise you!
The Wolf of St Trond
The 100 Club 004: Heinz Wolfgang Schnaufer was the highest scoring night
fighter ace in the history or aerial warfare, with a total of 121 victories
in just 164 combat missions. Amazingly Schnaufer scored most of his
victories in a Me 110, an aircraft which had easily succumbed to the RAF
when used during daylight operations in the battle of Britain. Born in 1922
Schnaufer was only 21 years old when he was awarded the Knights Cross in
1943, the Oak leaves, Swords and Diamonds were all added in 1944. Schnaufer
was nicknamed the Wolf of St Trond, where his unit was based for some time.
Schnaufer was captured by British forces at the end of WW2 but was released
within a year. He took over the family wine business but was unfortunately
killed in 1950, during an automobile accident at the young age of just 28
years old. This figure is limited to 100 worldwide and is free to Gunn Club
members who purchase $150 or more of TGM product direct thru our website.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope you enjoy July's
offerings and I will speak with you all in around one month's time.
Kind Regards
