Hi Mike,

I can certainly understand not noticing much beyond the figures you mentioned, especially the Britains Durbar elephant. The Britains Durbar elephant is stunning! The trouble with visiting a shop is there is so much to see, a person may not be able to focus on everything that is there. Most importantly, you had a great time and that is what counts!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Great stuff Mike , thanks very much for the photos. The more I see that Durbar elephant the more I can't wait until it is in toy soldier cabinet :D :D :D

Some great other WB pieces there as well and as for little legion  fabulous, but I cannot go down that road..must .......stay.....focused..........

Scott,

You must lose your focus and join the ranks of Little Legion. I am not sure how much longer I can resist the call of the WB Zulu Range. Every time I see the hospital at the Shoppe, my resitance falls a Little, but thank goodness the Little Legion cabinet is across the isle.:D

So it seems that we are the reverse of each other then Brian. :D I think that both are great and I may have room for a little legion dio somewhere in my cabinet.

Thanks for the pictures and report Mike. I would like to see Paul's shop. Some of my friends from the Military Society of Illinois were taking a "field trip" to Paul's open house. They also said a new military museum opened in Northern Ill. or Wisc. area. I will find out more when I talk to my friend Al who organized the trip. John

Good morning John, how the heck are you? Paul has a very nice shop. It's certainly not the biggest store I have ever been in, but what it lacks in size is made up by the fact that there is only two things offered for sale; collectible hand painted metal toy soldier figure sets and Osprey books - nothing else. Everything is neatly displayed on shelving that allows you not only a very good look at the detail the set has to offer, but also welcomes you the chance to actually hold the piece. I enjoyed my visit and Paul was absolutely a wonderful host. I think his idea of having an annual collector's event, sponsored by a major manufacturer and publisher is just terrific.

I know exactly what you mean Jagd, but man was it sweet looking. And the mounted British Lancers and the mounted German cavalry that were display next to the limber & gun set were absolutely stunning. All of the WB WWI sets were fantastic - makes me wish I had started collecting WWI  - that's all I need, another range addiction.

Mike, I've been reading through your posts and enjoying your photos. I'm not surprised you had a great visit, and I'm sorry I missed it this year. I see some excellent things in some of those photos. Thanks for filling us all in on the event.

Thanks for the pictures and the report.
Does he really have a website?
I do not think it is listed on WM Hockers Resource site.
I have been wishing for him to get one for years so it will be great if he does have one

Its www.toysoldiershoppe.net

Its a "work in progress" and is not as up to date all the time. It gives you a general idea what Paul has to offer but you still need to call Paul to verify what's in stock and to place your order.

Mike

Paul, also has an open house on the weekend following Thanksgiving.
