74th annual MFCA Show, May 8/9 2015 - show report thread (1 Viewer)

It looked to me as if there were fewer vendors and fewer visitors - but more transactions. All vendors were extremely busy. It was great to finally meet Zach and to reconnect with the Brads and others. I always find the show to be very high end with a lot of Russian figures and the Exhibition Area. In line with that, I spent as much time with the artists like Marion and Alan Ball as with the toy soldier vendors. And: this is the 74th consecutive year I blew my show budget on the first day. :)

It might be modesty, but Zach failed to mention the absolute highlight of the show. I hope he will remedy this later. It is the piece he commissioned this year from a Grand Master, certainly worthy its own thread.

PS: today, with all the pieces set up, I intend to take pictures. Impressed with Zach's iPhone. Mine can only take selfies.

If it was the figure by Marion Ball I thought it was the best piece on display.

Brad...Zach...thanks for posting the photos...not the usual stuff I see at shows...so very interesting...

Paul, it is

The Vikings were 28mm I believe. Made by Alan Golding in ny. The figures were bought, but he made the ship

To get the pictures up timely, I have not processed them this time. I am starting with some random photos from the Mart:

Someone complained about the lack of older glossy figures for purchase at this show. I do not believe this would be the best show for thatt kind of offering. I would think this show caters more to the high end market - antique and new. Having said that, I bought the Imperial set 50c from Norm. I had been looking for that one for awhile.

This one surprised me. A diorama using First Legion figures. It did win an award.

Great pictures. The two vignettes that really catch my attention are the "slippery road in Caen" and a scene in which I did not see the
title of the vignette is the German soldiers with Jagdpanzer. Looking on the pictures are they more of a 1/35 kits or 1/30 metal? Can't
remember any companies (K&C, TGM or Figarti) have these items. Thanks:cool:
