I spent the weekend knocking up the base for this. Full wood to take properly drilled placements for the cav figs. The base was two pieces of wood epoxied together to create a slope coming down from left to right as per the ptg. The base was also sloped fwd. following some acrylic wall putty.
I was so excited to test the staging with some figs. Then the base was sprinkled with some rocks and grass and then painted.
the scene was placed into the box for test fitting. Pretty exciting, right?
I took a couple more pics left and right to show the scene from a single viewpoint
then I took out each figure to further detail them. Rifles are from Shenandoah miniatures. I subst bare legs for tamyia driver boots on the back side of the wound horse piece.
The reason why I hvn been posting on our tree site is that I’ve been travelling around Eastern n middle Yroop for several weeks now! Visiting a lot of museums and seeing sights which I hope to share with all when I return in Apr. Giving me a lot of new insights into how to display my figs. Also bought several books and some figs. Catch up soon.
I trimmed the base to fit within the backdrop and raised the height. Then added cardboard and putty to tidy up the base. The base was repainted. So was the bkdrop.
I’ve added a couple of halters alr to two horses using copper wire. Very fiddly work. Also starting cleanup these foreground figures as much as possible and adding more details here and there. Scraping off excess putty and trying to improve the anatomy
I had a very productive weekend. Started off by adding the bits and reins to all the cav figs. Really mind boggling work ( worst than shipbldg). Hahaha. Then ptd all the figs.
Then carefully Att all the main figs to the scene. Some of the figs are supported with thicker wire, carefully hidden. Looks good eh? This final placement protects all the fragile swords, lances, reins etc from breakage as I continue to add more bkgd figs and details to the scene.
Fine work. I enjoy following your progress and look forward to your final product. I am currently working on a bust of Churchill ,representative of his participation in the charge
