A question from the boyz (2 Viewers)

Ana, I would love to see a British desert Lee/Grant tank and crew. A battle weary rusted M4A1 with hedge cutter wityh short 75mm gun, along with tired dirty infantry[including medic], resting alongside the tank. Finally, an U.S M16 Halftrack gun carriage with crew firing up into the sky with troops taking cover from enemy plane fire. I look forward to the HB crew making some of our dreams come true.

I'd like to see some Soviet sailors in fighting poses, since I believe they were often used as infantry in battles such as Stalingrad.

Ana,

If your question is purely related to figures, I'd personally like to see action figures, whether they be German, American, Commonwealth or whatever. I like the types of poses not regularly done in 1/30, eg, looking / firing around buildings, running figures and the type of "life or death" action poses such as the CS Arnhem hand to hand set and some of the Conte WWII "all out" poses (apologies for excessive [mis-]use of quotes:eek:).

I would back the call for more British and Commonwealth Infantry figures.

Simon

Whoops, I didn't read Ana's original question and got carried away with armor, personally I blame some earlier posts that sent me up the wrong path

Figures are a very different matter. Personally I prefer non-combat poses such as eating, resting, repairing etc but there are plenty of collectors that prefer combat figures so I guess a mixture is best.

There are certainly plenty of gaps for more nationalities such as Russians, Canadians and Australians etc but I think it's best to stick to those that are known best sellers.

Fmethorst (Frank) had some good suggestions for some German poses in his thread and I would especially like to see a Pioneer (Engineer) set with figures doing some bridging work. This could be complemented with a pontoon bridge large enough to handle tanks as the earlier K & C version was to narrow imo.

Hi Ana,

More Germans in Camo (Oak Leaf, DOT 44, German Palm Tree, etc.) attacking would be great!
I believe other manufactures have slowed down on producing them.

Tell the boys the detail and the painting for the Camo Tiger I Crew is excellent.

I would love to have some fighting camo Germans to go with my three Panthers and the Tiger I I'll be order shortly!:D

Hi Ana,

Like to see some US engineers or mine sweepers.:)

Best wishes

Rob

I actually like sitting, resting, and eating troops either German or American. I really would like a set of Germans riding and firing from a tank and hiding behind it.

What great suggestions so far guys!

I agree a German engineer set would be a terrific addition. Figures could have a flamethrower (there were two types - the one in the picture above with the single large gas tank and a later war version with two smaller tanks strapped horizontally), mine detector, wire cutters, and a long handled shovel. Figures could also be laying mines and setting off explosive charges with a detonator (at least one figure should be wearing the special engineer side pouches and backpack used to carry explosives).

I'd also like to see:
-Luftwaffe ground troops on guard duty to guard airplanes, V1 rocket sites etc. They should have a german shepherd guard dog!
-Berlin 1945 nachtjagers (night fighters) with infrared equipped mp-44s and wearing liebermuster camouflage (also an IR Panther tank to support them at some point)!
-More winter 1943 Kharkov SS grenadiers w/ fur lined anoraks (parkas) marching, riding tanks or attacking.
-Later war Whermacht/Heer infantry with splinter and marsh pattern smocks and helmet covers (no one has done a great job of these in 1:30 scale yet), with perhaps a panzershreck (bazooka), throwing grenades etc. Your HB-18 tank riders are a start but I'd like to see attacking troops from this period
-Marching early war (1939-41)/Barbarossa Wehrmacht or SS troops (the latter with early war weapons like an mp-35, erma machine pistol and the Czech ZB-30 machine gun)
-Soviet Naval troops w/ white bandoleers attacking. A common reason given why Russian figures don't sell is their uniforms weren't pretty, but these guys sure were!
-Soviet shock/assault troops (Berlin 1945) wearing breastplate body armor and camo scout suits, wielding captured panzerfausts and pps-43, svt-40. Again, I am not often interested in Soviets but these would be too cool to pass up.
-US infantry in 1945 at Remagen Bridge wearing m43 jackets and pants, firing a recoilless rifle etc.

Other figures of interest to me outside Honor Bound's usual range:
-Commonwealth troops in Normandy and North-west Europe, 1944-45!! Please leave shoulder insignia off so they can be used for both Canadians and British, or ideally give the option to custom paint insignia.
-More Japanese soldiers resting or doing activities in a bunker/command post type situation. I need more guys to complement my Figarti Japanese, and since Letters from Iwo Jima came out there may be a larger market for these than once existed.

Sorry for the long list. :)

Ana, there's certainly plenty for the boyz to choose from now

But what I reckon would be a BIG HIT is a set of Waffen SS MOUNTED troops in CAMO uniforms.

K & C issued a set of six mounted Germans in grey uniforms some time ago and they sell for big money on eBay and some of those horses weren't all that good frankly ;)

Thank you for your long list, Canadian Samurai. We appreciate it.

Thanks again, OZ

Hi Ana,

As you can guess my figures suggestions run to the American stuff, but here are a few suggestions;

Tank crews - extra figures sized to our Honour Bound and King & Country tanks, and scuplted in a style that would fit both companies armor. There has been a call for extra tanker figures, American, German and British. Some of these could be the "standing with a cup of coffee" types, other could be holding tools (tanks take quite a bit of maintenance), passing ammunition, holding gas cans, etc. There are a lot of opportunity because of the different uniforms. We could have American tank crews in the HBT tank coveralls and crash helmet, some wearing the steel helmet, some in the wool shirt/trousers with or without the classic tanker jacket, some in winter garb with the jacket zipped up with the matching tanker's bib-front pants and scarf, gloves, etc for winter (tanks are VERY cold in the winter). The British could be done in battledress or in winter "pixie suits" or in desert uniforms. The Germans have a similar variety of choices, including army and SS camouflage as well as classic Panzer Black and Afrika Korps. A few tankers could be marketed to test the market, and then more sets could be added.
If HB adds more Shermans that are suitable for the Pacific area then perhaps some USMC tankers might be considered in "utilities" and either steel helmets or crash helmets.

I agree with other call s for engineer troops. The built, they tore down and they fought. Demolitions teams, mine clearing teams, etc. could be shown. We also need more medical troops. Not just the front line medic, but maybe a scene with a doctor and aid man working on a casualty at a battalion aid station, or a stretcher team. Again, the medical figures can be done for multiple nationalities.

Just a few thoughts. Good luck on the future HB projects.
