"les diables blancs"

After finding the tracks of the "white devils" crossing the lake, Gawasowaneh hastened back to the French camp to report his discovery to the marines, Rene Favreau and Luc Sante. Wougwses (The Fox), an Abenaki from St. Francis was also there and volunteered to get word to the nearest French outpost that reinforcements would be needed.

That night, Wougwses, the Fox, moved silently through the moonlit forest arriving at the closest French outpost in the morning. As he approached the entrance, his heart pounding with excitement and filled with bloodlust, he shouted out in French "le diable est dans les bois" (The devil is in the woods).

EPISODE 19 continued....

LeBeouf shouted "Peut-être le diable lui-même est à la porte ?" ("Perhaps the devil himself is at the door?") Wougwses responded "C'est le renard et j'ai des nouvelles de Favreau" (It is the Fox and I have news from Favreau") Favreu was Leo's best friend in the Company and so he opened the door for the excited Abenaki warrior.

Hello Randy -

I find that I am catching myself getting all caught up in the excitement of these episodes. The last one chronicled always leaves me with a thought of what's next! What you have done and provided for the rest of us to enjoy and imagine is just magnificent. Huzzah!

Randy,
That Frontline figure seems to match up pretty good with Jenkins.I was under the impression they were smaller.

Agreed wholeheartedly Mike. Absolutely brilliant Randy and thanks for showing me the way forward into collecting an era I previously didn't have much interest in.

"A Skirmish in the Wilderness" to go on hiatus

The Skirmish thread is taking a break until reinforcements show up to adequately complete the story of the Battle on Snowshoes. John promises to have all the remaining BOS sets issued by the end of 2008. I am adding each new monthly release to our cast of characters. So look for a return of Charles Pelham and company sometime in early 2009.

Until then thanks to all for viewing and commenting on this thread.

Nice work Randy. I enjoy your stories and pictures. I got the Frontline Highlander and scout and a few more sets. Neat figures with Montcalm and his officers my favorite. John
