Achtung! Junkers 88! (2 Viewers)

Excellent as always, the Defiant is a very odd airplane. I wonder if or even how K&C would approach the larger aircraft in a more affordable, non wood material? Looking forward to the upcoming aviation polystone releases.

.......so watch out for termites!!!:eek::eek::eek:

That shouldn't be a problem as the wood has some kind of a sheen on it that almost makes the plane feel metallic. Doesn't at all feel or look like wood.

I know it may not be possible to make it in Polystone but I would love to see a Bolton Paul Defiant one day.I know it had a bad reputation later in the Battle of Britain but it had success to start with and went on to be an effective night fighter, and it sure would look good next to the Spitfire and Hurricane.

My sources also told me that the Winter and Desert versions are also sold out. Guess I don't have to worry about trying to figure out how to afford one

Update: Andy told me that indeed the Desert one is sold out. He has ordered three more, two of which are already spoken for.

And to think the estate had so many K&C Warbirds...I had no idea what I was passing up on! I wonder if the man who died was a frequent of this forum? Was there anybody that stood out that plainly disappeared around Jun-Sept of 2009 from California?

Truely excellent:D
I have one question for anybody who has purchased a Warbird, whats the undercarriage like,i am not so keen on the stands and would like to display freestanding but will the undercarriage take a prolonged display or is the stand essential ?

I have about 80 wood warbirds. Most of mine sit on their undercarriage on airfield dioramas, and I have never had a problem with the undercarriages.

You lost me on that one Mark. Can you please explain.

Louis, just curious, are the undercarraiges metal rods? Can't see how wood could be strong enough. 80 wooden warbirds is a very impressive number (of anything, for that matter), how long did it take you to accumulate them?

The undercarraiges are metal, with wood detail pieces and wheels.

I started accumulating K&C wood warbirds in 1997, right when K&C stopped making the originals. I was able to buy about 12 at once directly from Andy (cleaning out his left over stock at the Hong Kong Shop), got about 6 from K&C, UK, and the rest of the about 60 original production from various sources. Since K&C started making Warbirds again about 3 years ago, I have bought about 20 of the new ones as well.

Kevin (Panda1gen) and I hope to finish photography on a volume of the K&C book about Warbirds this summer, which should have photographs of more than 100 of the approximately 200 different warbirds K&C has produced over the years.

Are all three versions of the ju88 really sold out ? I love german bombers and i would take the plunge on a ju 88. If all are sold out i here figarti is making the uscha he 219

The metal struts make sense. Thank you for the answers. -- Al

I exchanged emails with Elsa a few days ago. I have reserved ONE Desert Version for my collection. She appears to have confirmed my order.

I think they ordered THREE more of each version.

I just received photos of the Desert 88 from King & Country. 6 are planned: three should be available very soon and 3 in September.

Magnificent is probably an understatement. I'm sure K & C will have larger sized photos shortly (best I could do with the reduction software).

Thanks for posting better photos. Yes, they've been sold out for some time. I have the Desert JU 88 on order for September. This will probably be my major ts purchase of the year.
