Just rec'd a beautiful ACW dio base from Ken and Erica. Picture does not do justice to their work but here's one anyway. Will be posting more pics in the diorama thread. Chris

It is beautiful. Hope you have many hours of enjoyment with it.

Ken and Erika do amazing work. ^&cool^&cool I bought a similar base, but with a red brick wall around two sides, from them at the Symposium, and couldn't be happier with it.:smile2:

That is a beautiful base Chris and you've made it come to life :smile2:

That looks great. I think all of these bases and buildings really add to any display.

Just a suggestion for the sake of authenticity: Turn the limbers around so that the poles are facing the artillery pieces each limber is serving. That was the way the regulations prescribed positioning the limbers. Unfortunately, at this time, one cannot purchase standing horses to add to the stationary limbers. In actuality when artillery was in the filed, the horses were still tethered to the limbers in order to quickly move the artillery. Your rendition of the artillery is nicely done with plenty of action going on.

Hi all,
I just finished up two new ACW bases for two different customers. They are almost identical, but one has a custom back drop I painted to extend the scene. The winter huts were made by ONWTC and the customers provided these to me to incorporate into the bases. I sanded the bottoms of the huts so they would blend in a bit better as they were permanently affixed to the base. I used our H&A products to create the ground and grass textures.
I took a picture of one of the bases without a backdrop for comparison. I am sure that both collectors purchased the ONWTC camp life figures, but I substituted W. Britain Confederate figures I sculpted for the images.

Here are a couple more images of the new camp life dioramas.

I hope you enjoyed these,

Another fantastic job Ken . . . very nicely done . . . .

A couple of images of the backdrop without figures... The first one is right after I drilled the holes in the bottom for mounting with screws...

The last one is after it was mounted on the base, but without any figures set in place.

I like the way it extends the depth of the diorama. I think next time I do one like this I may paint a few figures on the backdrop too.
Thanks for looking,
Ken

{sm3}{sm3} The difference that a "QUALITY" base and then an "OUTSTANDING" backdrop can make is hard to put into words. Then of course we go way beyond that with Ken's and Ericka's work and you have ... well .... as I said, no words! --- Larry

Thanks all!
I am slowly catching up on some of the custom orders that have been piling up, but there is a way to go yet. As i finish things I will try to post some more pictures. As much as I enjoy building these, the sculpting for W. Britain must come first so I am sure it must seem like it takes forever to many customers. I suppose that is the down side to a small operation, but on the other hand we are very predictable in the quality of our work.
This weekend is our 1812 event at the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn Michigan., so I will be out of the office for a few days organizing that then back to the bench!
Ken
