Wm Britain #31071 "Dismounted Union Cavalry Guidon Bearer" was delivered to my door this afternoon. I decided to see how he would look with the other WB dismounted cavalry troopers I have. Can't wait to get the four other dismounted Union troopers due out this month and February. I titled this series of photos . . . . .

Tactical Foresight

In the Gettysburg Campaign, Brigadier General John Buford is credited with selecting the field of battle at Gettysburg. On June 30, 1863 Buford's cavalry command rode into the small town of Gettysburg. Very soon, Buford realized that he was facing a superior force of rebels to his front and set about creating a defense against the Confederate advance. He was acutely aware of the importance of holding the tactically important high ground about Gettysburg and so he did. His skillful defensive troop dispositions, coupled with the bravery and tenacity of his dismounted men, allowed the Union I Corps, under Maj. Gen. John F. Reynolds, time to come up in support and thus maintain a Federal foothold at tactically important positions.

Very nice yet again Mike. Those trees look very impressive and everything blends so smoothly and seamlessly together.

Have you ordered the Collectors club flagbearer? and did you get the email regarding it?

Scott

Yes I got the email regarding Collector's Club #50021C "Iron Brigade flag bearer at rest" which I have on order, being changed to a regular release WB #31099. I verified with Angela that I still wanted it and took advantage of the special price that was offered . . . .

Good stuff :) Looking forward to seeing it in your dios.

So amazing that I e-mailed a link to all the civil war fans I know. On another note, I would be overwhelmingly happy were you to combine the completed version of this setup (with old (RC2) as well as future releases, and possibly Caleb's battery, some fences, felled trees from Britains, and advancing Confederates), with the whole advancing Iron Brigade setup, complete with all the Britains Iron Brigade. I think that would possibly be the best Civil War dio I had ever seen.

Thanks Mike for your pictures of the Cavalry figures. Nice figures. I ordered the Iron Brigade also after I was informed about the CC figure not being released. I am looking forward to the #31099 figure offer for my small Civil War collection. John

Mike mate,
Outstanding little dio. I love the ones that have a few figures with lots of scenery and a good background. Simple but extremely nice. Keep 'em coming cobber.

Hey there "Down Under" how are you doing. Cold here in Wisconsin, 23 F for a high temp today with a 3 to 4 inch snow fall. I like to do the smaller dios myself - getting to the point where I like collecting the "scenic" pieces as much as the toy soldiers themselves.
:) Mike

Here is their e-mail back:

"OMG! Those are toy soldiers! The greenery is phenomenally realistic. Thank you for sending this link."

Very flattering Sandor and thank you. Here's a link to my ACW forum photo album - have your firends take a peek at all three pages . . .
