Its a very rainy day here with occasional lightning and thunder. A perfect day for me to get acquainted with my new acquisitions from the Chicago OTSN show. In these photos, the farmhouse and the smokehouse are new, made by Traverse Dioramics, and the A. P. Hill figure holding a pipe in his right hand and his hat in the other hand is also new.

At a farmstead east of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, June 27th, 1863

General Robert E. Lee, General Longstreet, and General A.P. Hill confer with the Confederate Topographer Jedediah Hotchkiss what route the army should take next. General Lee knew that General Early's Corps was at Carlisle within striking distance of Harrisburg. Lee thought to himself, "Where is the Army of the Potomac?" more importantly he thought, "Where is Stuart?". Searching for an answer where to concentrate his army without being detected, Lee pointed at the map that Hotchkiss was holding and asked, "What is the name of that town where all the roads converge?" "Why, that is Gettysburg sir," responded Hotchkiss. They continued their discussion as elements of Heth's division began to march by.

Ah. I see you got the house too. I echo what Marco said. It looks so real - from foreground to background!!

Another nice job Mike. Thanks for an enjoybable evening viewing your latest contribution. Chris

Mike: Excellent diorama. You do ask a great question. Where is General Stuart and the Cavalry? I have been asking myself that for a number of years. We located a single 1st Virginia trooper in the woods this spring but no forces seen otherwise. Perhaps by late fall or winter or as I suspect early spring. In the meantime the infantry and artillery are just going to have to find their way forward without cavalry.

Your new stuff looks great. I was at the show too and saw the Traverse buildings. I think I'll have to get those too.

Mike, wonderful composition, your lighting is perfect. The new scenics look fantastic.

Thanks everyone: Mark, Dan, Chris, Jeff, Nooooo9, and Frank . . .
:smile2: Mike
