What is your most prized American Civil War set you own from Britains? Post a picture if you have one. Mine is an older set from 2000 titled "Gettysburg Confederate Command Set." I got this on a trip to Gettysburg several years ago. It includes General James Johnston Pettigrew, Colonel Edward Porter Alexander and the 28th Virginia Infantry Flag. Being from North Carolina I hold General Pettigrew in very high esteem.

There are several that stand out IMO, but one that comes to mind is the Union Surgery Set.

Another favorite is the Baptism at Manassas.

My favorite figure is actually a conversion piece done for me by Ken Osen. Its of a mounted Confederate Infantry Officer (figure on right) converted from an original #17678 "A. S. Sandie Pendleton Mounted" (figure on left) . . . . .

Wow Mike! That is a great conversion done by Mr. Osen! Also I have had my eye on the "Baptism at Manassas" set for some time. If I only had the money right now...

Don't have time to take photos right now, but if I had to choose one ACW set from Britains that means the most to me, it might be the two Clear the Way sets from the early years, depicting the Irish Brigade charging at Fredericksburg. It was one of the first big battlefields I ever visited, and on that same trip, this is the set that really inspired me to start collecting toy soldiers when I saw it in a shop in Gettysburg. Plus, I love the figures, with the flag bearers, dramatic action poses, and the overcoats. It is a close call though, as I also really love my 6-horse limber set!! I like the limber set so much that when I acidentally damaged the first one I had, I ordered another - one of the last ones still remaining in shops at the time.

Nice! I have been wanting to track down the Clear the Way set for some time now. I too really like the Fredericksburg battlefield. Great stuff you have there my friend! :)

Clear the Way with Add-on set are my favourites as well. Something so different and dynamic about that set...

There are more figs in great coats coming in the next yr. :smile2: Chris

ONTC Loomis Battery also by Ken Olsen. He also repaired mine when it arrived damaged. Ken's a good guy.

Have to agree with several others here, and even though I'm a Johnny to the core, the "Clear the Way" sets are superb. They were my first metal ACW figures purchased and still my favorites. -- Al

Maybe next year there will be a Keith Rocco/Britains art series of Little Round Top.......that would be my favorite

Love all my WB ACW Sets...But if i had to chose just one that has that little something extra..then it would have to be the Ken Osen ONTC set..... Grim Harvest...5 Confederates in the Antietam Cornfield....Absolutely stunning set!!!!!!!!!.

You ate right. Ken is a super nice guy, and while I do not have the Loomis set, I always thought it looked extremely well done.

Don't know if anyone is interested in acquiring the original 6-figure set in perfect condition but I have just put it up on eBay at a good price.

Union Limber Horse and Limber team if I have to pick a single set. Britians and Conte Boxed and singles , plus my own painted castings all blend together into great scenes.
I'm still collecting, painting but have not had the boys out on the table in , gulp , 2 years?!

Hi Harold,
whenever you do get your troops out on the table, it is always a stunning and fascinating view, and that's not just for the ACW displays you can come up with, that is for all the various lines you are able to set up "big time" :wink2:
Konrad

Fantastic set up Harold. I always enjoy seeing your huge displays. There's something about seeing the little guys set up in mass like that!!

Mark

Thank you very much.
I'll have to refrain from going to the skeet field some what in the near future if I intend to buy the New Iron brigade set in the cornfield. That could be a new favorite.
