AIR CRASH IN VIRGINIA (1 Viewer)

The quickest and easiest way to reduce the air traffic would be to transfer the cut price airlines/flights to Dulles airport. I doubt many US government employees travel on the cheap flights, I know our Aussies don't.

Too much greed in the US to cut back. Frankly, I'm surprised planes are not falling out of the sky left and right given the cost cutting. The airlines used 9/11 to eliminate every customer service. Try to call them on the phone and you are on hold for hours. They charge for bags which encourages folks to carry bags on the plane making the jobs of TSA impossible. They cram overweight Americans into tiny seats resulting in fights. The whole system is a complete disaster. Flying is absolute torture. The airlines took billions in COVID money with the promise not to fire anyone. What did they do? They offered employees buyouts to get rid of them. After COVID, there was a shortage of pilots and staff.

'Greed is Good' is evident in most Western countries. However this accident occured on the doorstep of a seemingly proactive President that is not scared to make changes, watch that space.

There's no doubt the airlines took advantage of any Covid funding, same with many different Industries in most Western Countries. Many of these policies were poorly considered and implemented and still haunt us to this day. Another outcome is that many people are now cynical and suspicious of our government(s), not a good sign for more lethal viral outbreaks that occur in the future.

I think the irony here is that it is the government that has kept air travel safe. If left to the private industry, the planes would be crashing left and right given their greed. The corporations have made air travel an absolute torture for passengers using 9/11 and COVID as a pretext to cut every amenity. They cut corners at every point for profit. The wings would be falling off of these planes but for the FAA safety standards. Passengers would be sitting in each other's laps if left to the airlines.
