Does anyone own both AK019 and AK050, the older and newer iteration of the DAK Panzer III? If so, how do they compare. I'm asking in both sculpting and size. Price wise, the new one seems hard to beat, and I wouldn't mind losing the extra figure. But I'd be curious how owners of both feel. Thanks in advance - Mark.

I can't compare to the new AK050, but can to the newer StuGIII. They are the same scale. So if the new PzIII is the same scale as the newer StuGIII, then all is good. The sculpting on the old was excellent; however the obvious difference was the tracks which many dislike. If you don't mind the track issue, AK019 mixes in fine with the newer AK stuff.

In. My opinion-a k019 is the tank of choice. The figures are far more realistic andthE AK019is a much more orealistic
War
tank
Compare them side by side and don't overemphsize tracks
Both setts oftracks leave a lot. To be desired

Mark mate,
I have two each of both these Pz IIIs and I don't real think you can compare the two. My reasons are basically twofold:

(1) AK19 is a PzKpfw III SdKfz 141/1 --- Longer barrel and smoke dischargers. Tunisia late 1943
AK40 is a PzKpfw III SdKfz 141 --- Shorter barrel and no smoke dischargers. Egypt late 1942
Different variations of the Mk III. The SdKfz 141/2 had the stub nose gun.

(2) AK19 was released by K&C in Sep 2002 and retired in Sep 2006
AK50 was released in Aug 2009 and is still available.
In the seven years between releases a lot of changes in sculpting, painting, weathering, etc have taken place for the better.

Both AFVs look good seperately or together. I hope this helps.
Cheers Howard

Hi Howard, now I don't have the new one (will soon), but the old one is a very competent sculpt & paint job. For example, I have the Kubel, Horsch, PzIVkz, halftrack & Tiger, & aside from the tracks/wheels, I can't see any major improvement in style concept. Really, I think the old PzIII was one of the first that ushered in the 'new age'. I know the barrel is different, but other than that, how do they compare scalewise? I'd predict the same.

Mark...

ignoring the issues of historical accuracy of what they are trying to be (as Panzer III variants often changed very little with each Ausf). they are both good sets. The AK19 is smaller in size than AK50 and weighs more. However, AK19 has the charm of an old style K&C set with relatively good crew and detail to the upper structure. The lower part leaves a lot to be desired but, was the norm in the manner K&C were able to sculpt their AFV's at that time.

The AK50 is probably one of the better AFV's that K&C has done in terms of detail and price one was able to say well for the price its a good set and has enough detail etc for that price. They are both worth having IMO and, AK 19 just edges it for me due to the crew and the air recon flag.

19 all the way. That and 23 were two of the best ever done.

i am with you on that brad, ak19 is superb. But i sold my second ak19 because i intended to get ak50 and still do. Also the guy that bought my ak19 really truely wanted it. First vehicle i have ever sold in 15yrs.
