all quiet on the HB front (1 Viewer)

The Panzerfaust was a weapon ahead of its time, a one shot disposable recoilless rifle that could be produced dirt cheap in the most rudimentery conditions.

The Panzerfaust 30/60 could penetrate 200 mm of armour and the 100 could penetrate 220 mm. That's the equivalent of the 88 mm Kw.K .43 L/71 gun (Tiger II) at 100 m

While it may have been difficult to use it's much better than trying to run up and stick a magnetic mine on the outside of the tank.

I feel sorry for the german tank hunters (panzerjager) squads trying to stop this beast.

Imagine facing a whole battalion of JS-2!

Although we all collect German armor and whatnot, why, in god's name, would you feel sorry for them. I'm glad there were tanks of this type to kill them.

I took this statment to mean that it would have been "a difficult task" to accomplish rather than expressing any sympathy for them. Keep in mind also that many of the Germans who used the panzerfaust would have been children and old men. Some of whom would have been forced into service (like the current Pope).

Doug do you mean the current Pope was forced into becoming the Pope!:D

what i meant was that it would have been a monumental task for elite soldiers, never mind for unfit civilians pressed for combat like old men or children, no matter how brave they were.

Though i am an openly german collector, i am thankful that the Allies won, alas i would have spoken japanese!

In fact my fascination with the germans were not in the glory of their early war victories, it was in the way they valiantly struggle to ultimate defeat.

Sincerely,

Nasir Kasmani.
