Did anyone mention the fact that WS103 88mm Flak 18 is already being retired? I think thats the fastest I've have ever seen something retired, though I've only been collecting for about a year now. I guess it isnt selling well?

Yeah I thought that was kind of strange but I still got one. Thats all that matters to me.

Only 750 were planned so it's not surprising and I actually considered this retired from the get go.

I decided to buy the 88 a while ago.....wasn't too impressed with it at first but it kind of grew on me.....I would suggest buying it....IMO not a bad piece of armour........Although I would have preferred an 88 flak gun on a grounded base with a loading crew.....

Maybe its also retiring if another 88mm is in the pipeline?.

I think Rob is right. North Africa perhaps ?. Which is why not a Ltd Ed and smaller run and hence not a long lifespan.
Regards
Brett

Hey Brett,if Andy was going to make another 88 i really hope it would be an AK version.Maybe with the crew in those long overcoats?.I think the AK and 8th Army ranges just go from strength to strength and have got to be some of the best stuff K&C produce.

I don't believe that's necessarily correct. They only had planned to make 750(Andy said that) and probably since the demand wasn't there, that's all they made.

An AK version would be a great addition and a must have for any collector of that range. Rommel's tactical use of 88's in this theatre is one of the hallmarks of his military genius.

I remember Andy said 750, but it was not a strictly limited item like what we no. It never said that. But I got one anyway its a nice piece.

Absolutely. Its an iconic weapon in whatever theatre it was used, however theres something about its use and domination of the Desert battlefield that is especially evocative.

I believe I saw an 88 and an 88 loading crew on eBay this morning - two separate auctions.
