started last night on Starz...
one of the most bizarre series I have ever watched...

starts off with stranded Vikings performing a mass self mutilation scene of blinding each other...
followed by an extremely gory beach Viking battle...
paying tribute to Odin to give them wind in their sails...

then moves into and follows the release of a modern day inmate's from prison...
Moon Shadow...
who's wife has died...
and as he tries to get to her funeral...
is then confronted by a mysterious man (Ian McShane)...
that I think is an older God in man's form that walks the earth...
they seems to have some untold destiny with each other that is the premise of the show...

he has a brutal fight with a 7 footish muscular Leprechun in a bar...
encounters another younger "techno" God that walks the earth...
whose course is to unseat the older God...

it's just too strange to detail all the weird stuff that happens...
I was totally mesmerized and immediately hooked on this show...

you guys gotta give this one a chance...
totally off the charts...

extreme violence and sex...

Zach...
this show is off the charts "bizarro world"...
the scene with Bilquis...
the ancient Goddess of Love...
may turn you celibate...^&grin

hey...you don't know what I'm into! hahaha {eek3}

Visually stunning but I thought it was awful. {eek3} I'll give it another episode or so because I heard it starts off sluggish but I don't know.

sluggish...

for real...sluggish?

I thought it was anything but sluggish...

they bounce from one crazy scene to another...

I watched it, but as Mike said its really really bizarre . . . so bizarre that I had a hard time following what in the world was going on . . . . . Moon Shadow seemed to be trippin' on some bad drugs . . . . . Haven't decided yet whether I really liked it or not . . . . will watch the next couple of episodes top decide. In comparison I liked Penny Dreadful, and Taboo much, much better . . . .
:smile2: Mike

A lot of people are ga-ga over Neil Gaiman's books but I've found them hit and miss. I even read AG once but can't remember a single thing about it. I might give the show a try though.

I don't know.......This sounds a lot like the episode where Homer eats a Guatemalan Insanity Pepper at the annual chili fest.

Simply loved it .
Must been said, I was a big fan of Twin Peaks

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Episode 2 was just as crazy as the first episode...
everything seems surreal and in an almost drug induced dreamlike telling...
strange images and even stranger characters are introduced to further the story...
the African God Anansi...(Old God I think) that incites the slave ship riot...then turns into a spider...
Media...a New God...on the television...as Lucy Ricardo...trying to seduce Shadow to their side...
"Lucy...I'm home"...
the Slavic slaughterhouse guy with the cow hammer...
he's a mess...an Old God I'm pretty sure...and former ally of Mr. Wednesday...
he refers to Mr. Wednesday as Voltan...I guess that's his real God name...
Czernobog and Shadow's checker game doesn't turn out quite as I expected...
see if he pays his bet next week...I doubt it...
and lets not forget the Goddess of Love...Bilquis...she's gobbling up men and women left and right...
just crazy stuff...
absolutely crazy..
and with that said...

I can't get enough of it...^&grin...love this show...

have always been a fan of Ian McShane back from Deadwood...I'll watch pretty much anything he is in...

Based on what you guys are saying this seems to be one very weird show^&confuse. Possibly the strangest reviews in a movie thread here.

This is one bizarre show, but the snappy dialog has me hooked. Pleased to see Peter Stomare in it, as well as Cloris Leachman. She's been around forever. Just saw her in a couple of 'The Untouchables' episodes from the '61 and '62 seasons. That series was a Who's Who of Hollywood. Leachman is currently 91 years young. -- Al

good eye Al...

Stomare was easy to recognize...in fact hard to miss...I really enjoyed his portrayal as Lucifer..."The Dirty One" in Constantine...

but I did not pick up on Leachman...

the eyes looked familiar...but it slipped past me til you mentioned it...she was hysterical in Beerfest...in the sausage scene...

even funnier than her roles in Blazing Saddles and High Anxiety...

Mike, I know ya'll Texas boys remember Leachman in her Academy Award winning role in that wonderful film about small town life in Texas, The Last Picture Show. Hard to believe it was released in 1971. A great film, especially since Ben Johnson was in it. -- Al

Al...sure...but mostly remember Shepard and Bridges from it...have not thought about that movie in years...what Oscar did Leachman win in that?

best supporting actress...
I'm surprised...
I thought Shepard might have won that...
looks like The French Connection had a field day that year...
