I watched the first episode. It certainly was a homage to the 80s slasher films. In fact some of plot lines are taken straight from those films like the killer's escape from the mental asylum. That was directly out of Halloween. If you watch this tongue-in-check it is a lot better than watching it as a straight horror show. All the stuff about the aerobics is a bit overdone. That was tiresome. Oddly enough, I was in LA during the time period for this show. I started at USC in 1983 and the campus was a disaster because they were upgrading and building for the 1984 summer Olympics.
So now we have the night stalker showing up at the camp, so dueling serial killers?
And a ghost who keeps getting bumped off?
Not what I expected, I thought the kids would show up at the camp before the action started; I guess not.
Yes, they put a little twist on the old slasher films with the ghost and night stalker. The night stalker was in a prior season as well.
BTW: anyone come across a TV program about Charles Manson's funeral? On Reelz or something like that. Man, I've seen a lot of tasteless TV but that one took the cake. A bunch of loons mourning old Charlie. Close ups of CM in his coffin. They even showed them cremating him. It was brutal. So tasteless that I had to watch.
Ok, the twists and turns in this one are good, not going to lie, this gets better by the episode...………….
As a confirmed horror fan, I never object to violence or gore but have to admit that using a real life serial killer and even glamorizing him is not in good taste. I was in LA when Ramirez was on his rampage. There was nothing glamorous about that guy. But now he is a pop culture icon. Can only imagine what the relatives of his victims think about this show. Oh well. At least the music is good.
Ok, so the action at the camp is over from what it appears...……..not sure I like the "people who got bumped off are now ghosts"...……………...ghosts that apparently kill people too.
The Night Stalker and Mr Jingles have formed a nice little friendship, we'll see what sort of mayhem they can get into in LA...…………….we're at the halfway point, 5 down, 5 to go.
