American Horror Story Hotel a reminder for Doug (2 Viewers)

not clear yet on why Gooding...Basset and Paulson are not narrating the story...

I suppose it will be clear in time...

agree with the never pay a cheap price on the house theory...

but the hillbillies are not doing this...but I bet the know the story behind who is doing it...

the piggy stuff is over the top bizarre...

I'm in for a second episode...

The narration is supposedly being done by the "real" participants as part of a real life crime or ghost TV show while the scenes are events being recreated by actors playing the parts of the "real" people. Or something like that. In other words it is a show within a show. Or I could just be making that up. It look me a long time to even realize the narrators were not the same as the people playing them in the events.

okay...honestly...that was the only conclusion I could draw too...
and with that...

I would also guess that they lived through the house ordeal...

and if all those premises are true...

they have kind of spoiled the ending...

us now knowing that they survived to tell the story...

I would like to know what this fad with the spooky stick figures and strings is all about. It is a common theme in many stories that involve spooky aspects, like the Blair witch and the first season of True Detective. You would think people would know to avoid areas densley populated with these stick figures and strings. -- Al

They are supposed to be a warning to stay away. And a seemingly pretty good one except for the fact they are always being ignored. If the folks in horror films acted reasonably they would pack up and go home in the first minute. I'm gone after those human teeth started falling from the sky.:wink2:

I would of let the hillbillies win the auction :wink2:

That's probably a good life philosphy. "Deliverance" and "The Hills Have Eyes" prove that beyond any doubt. I can't decide if I like or hate the new format for this season. I'm leaning toward the latter but will see how this plays out. I also wasted a couple of hours and $10 renting "31". The new Rob Zombie flick. I have a sort of love/hate with his films. This one has many similar trademarks to "Devil's Rejects" but some of the worst acting and plot that I have seen in a good while. I think his wife - who is one of the worst actresses in modern film history - forces him to direct films and give her the leading role. Meg Foster without make up was the scariest part of that movie by far. Not to be unkind but man she looks harsh.

totally disappointed...what a stinker so far...just saw episode 2 and not sure I will watch episode 3...

total cliche horror show...

3 dumb adults that make all the wrong decisions...

the script is so predictable...

don't go in the woods...don't open that door...don't hide in the shed with the chain saws...

really bad script...like a bad cheap B movie horror flick...

sometimes they go just too far and I feel stupid letting it try to entertain me...

the cop comes out of his car and investigates the house with a flash light...

okay...it's dark and creepy...

how about turning on a light instead?

one goofy thing after another...

so cliche...worst AHS to date...

I don't care for the narrated format either...

it's gotta get better for me to hang with it...

I'm still on the fence. I think they are intentionally playing homage to the haunted house movies of the past. Is it the way normal people would react? No. But it wouldn't be much of a show if they packed up and left. Those nurses had some real bedside manner. Anyone catch The Exorcist? That looks ok.

I did mate and looks pretty good so far

I liked the episode this week along with the weird psychic character. Kathy Bates does some wild accents. In Freak Show it was supposedly a "Baltimore" accent which I had never heard.

probably the best episode yet...

the 2 boys suckling on the dead pig for milk was pretty gross...

Leslie Jordan as the psychic was a hoot...he cracks me up big time...

Lady Gaga makes an appearance...

I'm hanging in there for the 4th chapter...

hoping for less predictable house haunting and a few more new twists...

Agreed; the second episode was not very good, third one was a lot better.

Now I know why they got the house for short money; good luck with that, hope it turns out ok............^&grin

Quite a bloodbath this last week. They even outdid TWD in killing off main characters. Almost no one left. Curious to see how it plays out.

Overall I thought this was a pretty good season. It certainly didn't have the "happy" ending of last season. Hilarious lampoon of the fan conventions and media coverage of celebrity crimes in the finale. A lot of themes including race relations, modern media news coverage, celebrity worship, social media driven desire for attention, idiocy of hollywood. A lot of ground covered for good or ill. There were apparently a lot of connections to prior seasons that I didn't make until I read this review:

The new season starts Tuesday, Sept. 5, for those interested. -- Al

I read there is some type of political theme to this season which begins on election night 2016. That gives me pause. I could watch cable news if I wanted more of that but I'll keep an open mind.

Season called 'Cult'. Episode 1 creepy enough to keep me around for awhile. Why is it always clowns? -- Al
