American Horror Story - Season 3: Coven (1 Viewer)

A double episode last night. I only saw the first one but can tell this won't be for everyone.

I couldn't finish the second one. Your right not for me.

I consider myself a generally open person and believe that all people should be allowed to live their lives as they please (provided they’re not hurting anyone else in the process) but I just don’t want to watch a show about homosexuality. Now if I said this on Twitter or similar outlets I’d probably be dragged through the mud and then some.

This used to be a very good show but it’s gone downhill in recent years.

I remember a movie years ago with Al Pacino who played a undercover cop in the gay community and I thought it was good but this is a little too much. I also believe in live and let live.

I watched Serpico a few months ago...for the 2nd or 3rd time...great show...way ahead of it's time...
AHS stole a scene from it...
the scene where a big black guy...wearing only a Cowboy hat and a jock strap walked into the interrogation room and slapped the suspect...
it was funny then and it's still funny now...

AHS's gay/leather/S&M theme doesn't bother me at all...yea...live and let live...
I like crime dramas...thought this was pretty good and have enjoyed both episodes so far...

I'm not bothered by the theme either. For me it's whether the show is entertaining or not. Message type shows, however, are a predictable bore. I watched the first episode of "Cabinet of Curiosities" on Netflix and it had the boring theme of the angry white guy getting his just rewards for being a racist. It's a politically themed show to promote a certain narrative. If AHS can craft an interesting story out of the 1980s gay culture, then I'll watch it. But if it is some half baked woke themed saga, then not.

Serpico was made 50 years ago...very gritty and edgy for it's time...
it received some Academy Award nominations...and won some other awards...

the story is based on a real life whistleblower in the NY police department...
but a lot of the movie dealt with Pacino's undercover role to catch a serial killer that targeted gay men...

dealing with issues that were not so easily accepted a half a century ago...
some of the sex scenes were both graphic and uneasy for it's time...

knowing AHS...they will probably take it to a new level with a lot of emphasis on horror and shock...

It looks like they trying to tie the Aids epidemic into this, some whistle blower met with the doctor and was yammering something about "The Government is responsible"....................the theme for me has nothing to do with it, don't give me some half baked theory about how Aids really started.

Go sell that nonsense somewhere else, I'm all full up here.

The angle about the diseased deer on Fire Island left me mystified. Not sure what that was about. Maybe they are tying AIDS to some government conspiracy.

I started watching the second episode. Sandra Bernhardt is right in character. Hasn’t changed a bit although she’s gotten older but then haven’t we all?

I'm three episodes in and still wondering what this is supposed to be about. It's moving at a snail's pace. There doesn't seem to be any theme or point. None of the characters are interesting. Just a killer on the loose in the gay community of NYC during the 1980s. The newspaper guy is really annoying with all his speeches.

I learned a couple of valuable lessons from episode four. If your friend goes missing at a large, busy hospital, begin searching for them by going down into the basement and entering the morgue (which is conveniently not locked), and start yelling out their name. If they have been abducted and tied up in a meat locker, then mission accomplished. Second, if you see a man decapitate someone in Central Park, you should "follow him" to see where he is going. Not only to his apartment building but then actually get on the elevator with the killer to see which floor he lives on.

Is it just me or is the newspaper guy in this show a real piece of work? He has lectured everyone on the show. Not sure if that is intentional and he is supposed to be annoying or if the writers of this show are trying to make some social commentary via his character. Either way, I was pulling for the killer to end him in that meat locker. Even after his partner saved him, he lectured him some more. The killer is the best thing going. He is creepy. They seem to have taken their inspiration from Jeffrey Dahmer (and the AHS creator was involved in the recent Netflix show).

I don't think newspaper guy is gonna be around much longer...
he's got a major case of those funky lesions brewing on his body...
that skin problem didn't work out too well for the guy the cops found in his bed dead and rotting away...

I'm trying to understand if Big Daddy and The Mai Tai Killer are working together...
lots of villains to keep track of...same agenda...kill...kill...kill...

LOL!!!

What a smart cop, he knew instinctively to head to the morgue and randomly open a drawer where your lover is passed out in.

And the two nitwits who got on the elevator with the guy who cut off someone's melon; it's not going to end well for them.
