....so here goes, my first attempt at posting some images of my newly acquired Regal Enterprises / SOTW figures....

...part of the 'Early American Wars' range....or more specifically, the American War of Independence...

...after making contact with Allan Farley at Regal, I picked 3x sets to test the waters.....along with the positive encouragement of Treefrog's very own PolarBear....

...and 10 weeks later, the sets arrived.....very well packaged in branded blue boxes with nice soft sponge inlays to protect the goods....

...I chose a set of Royal Artillery, the 42nd Highlanders, and a set of British Line Infantry painted to represent the 63rd Regiment of Foot....my first glossy AWI figures....(after previously asking in this forum for help in picking a manufacturer to collect = thank you!)...

...these Regal / SOTW figures are stunning...they are beautifully painted....I wasn't too sure about the 'Aunt Sally' rosy cheek before actually receiving these, but it adds wonderfully to the 'toy' look that these figures have....the sculpting is spot on, the figures have a nice weight 'in the hand' which helps convey the impression that you are holding a very fine piece indeed...

...short story = these are brilliant and I can't say enough about them....if you have never tried a Regal / SOTW set before, then do so immediately.....they are glorious....and again many thanks to PolarBear for his help...

....first image below of the Royal Artillery...

...next we have the 63rd Regiment of Foot, otherwise known as "The Bloodsuckers"....I opted for this regiment as they appear to have taken part in many of the engagements of the AWI....

...I need to ask if I can get Standards to accompany the figures ...Kings Colours and Regimental....

...these figures are so very well done...

....and here we have the 42nd Highlanders....wearing trousers instead of kilts....no bayonets for close order fighting in wooded areas....note the axe on the waist belt....these are very well painted....I like the look of the 42nd 'command' figures wearing Kilts, so will purchase a set at a later date...who doesn't like a kilted figure!

...I'm now considering the American figures to oppose the British....which regiments to get....I'm thinking of collecting figures that would suit the Battle of Monmouth....

...anyway, I'm very happy with these....and thoroughly recommend you try them once you decide on a range....

...finally got my hands on some more of these wonderful Regal/SOTW figures from the 'Early American Wars' range.....a few Continentals to fend off the advancing British....

...Allan & Ian were more than helpful to listen to my request to paint me some figures to represent an early period 'generic' Continental uniforms (Brown & Blue).....whilst the range contains some great looking distinct regiments with their own uniform colours, I wanted a representation of a uniform that could be used for any number of Continental regiments....

....consider this, a line up of Continental troops, in late 1776.....artillery in the centre with a Blue coated regiment on their left flank, and a Brown coated regiment on their right flank...

...so the day begins...

...and with the ebb and flow of battle, the once neatly lined Continental's find themselves pushed back and in mixed ranks....

...I am very pleased with how these have turned out and the next order is going in soon.....these are really well done.....thoroughly recommended....

Great choice to go with Regal/SOTW, they make a very well crafted toy soldier that retains the warmth and charm of another era.

Wow ... I am very impressed.
I am a BIG FIW / AWI collector. Up until this point it has been mainly .. Matt K&C, JJD and Britains.

But I love these guys.

Like Dragoon said, "They retain the warmth and charm of the toy soldiers that I played with so many years ago."

You got a wonderful collection and it's GROWING.

Maybe it is my network connection, but when I go to Regaltoysoldiers.com then to the early American link there are only a few pictures of the sets. Is it me or the web site?

Hi there...

....it is the web-site....to begin with there was only a few Rogers Rangers sets mentioned on the web-site....and then earlier this year the list was expanded to include all that is involved with the 'Early American Wars' range...but no images.....the images are slowly appearing but I think it may be in relation to actually making the new sets for customers to begin with....

When I first started looking at this range, Treefrog's very own PolarBear was kind enough to point me to these two links below.....which show a number of the sets....

On Treefrog itself:-
https://www.treefrogtreasures.com/c-3694-soldiers-of-the-world.aspx?pagesize=100

...and from the 'Regal Toy Soldiers' blog....which I believe is no longer active, but at least there are some fine images:-
https://regaltoysoldiers.wordpress.com/toy-soldiers/awi-range/

...it certainly helped to get me interested!

Thank you very much for the info and links.
THIS is why the TreeFrog forum is so GOOD!

UPDATE: I just spent some time scouring the links and I am even more interested .... wonderful sets!

Just added Regal's Soldiers of the World 23rd Regt Royal Welsh Fusiliers. I like the set so much I will be adding more AWI from the
Farleys. Enjoy:)

....a very nice set Randy.......a really fine example of the artwork of Regal/SOTW.....I had considered getting this Regt to face off against some of the Militia figures from the same range...(thinking of Bunker Hill)....

....I now have a few more of the AWI sets that I really must find time to take photo's of.....

...it is a real joy to own anything by the Farley's....

.

...it's been a while, but here are some images of more Regal AWI figures collected over the past 18mths or so....the work of the Farley's continues to impress me....both the painting and the 'look' of the figures....the fact that they are always prepared to create something not featured on their official lists is all part of the attraction....

...for instance, the very fine looking Hesse-Cassel Artillery 6pdr that appears below.....a really great piece...

Hessian Artillery 1.jpg

...the colours and detail just 'pops' out...

Hessian Artillery 2.jpg

...and one more image just because I am so pleased with it!

Hessian Artillery 3.jpg

.

...to continue with the Hessian theme....

….the eye-catching Grenadiers of the Rall Regt....

Rall 1.jpg

...and facing these gentlemen head on...

Rall 2.jpg

.

...support comes from their colleagues, the Fusilier Regt Erbprinz….

Erbprinz 1.jpg

...and now in line formation...

Erbprinz 2.jpg

.

...here we have all of the Hessians grouped together...all very colourful...

Hessian 3.jpg

.

...and to take on the Hessians....the Continentals...

...the 1st New York Regt...

1st New York 1.jpg

...more...to show detail of back of figure...

1st New York 2.jpg

….below are figures showing the 3rd New Jersey 'Greys'.....a different paint finish from the usual offering (thanks to the Farley's), which makes for a pleasing change instead of the usual Blue or Brown jackets...

3rd New Jersey Greys 1.jpg

..to help show the variation of uniforms I asked for different coloured breeches / stockings....just to mix it up a bit...making them more special to me...

3rd New Jersey Greys 2.jpg

...both the 1st and 3rd advancing together...

3rd and 1st Regts.jpg
