Ancient Egypt (1 Viewer)

"I'm really pleased - my first deletion!"

So you're not the messiah/promised one - you're just a naughty boy!

Im kind of interested to see if the little rowing boat team that KC did for the SOHK release might morph into a small Nile river boat. The small community of Egyptian collectors I know have all dreamed of seeing this possibility come to light some day. It would make for a neat little subset to the series- a group of Egyptian fisherman, couple guys calling out to the boat from the shoreline- it could be pretty neat.

Hi Chris,

Though I have never experienced the specific idea you propose, I think the idea has great merit. As an Ancient Egyptian collector, I would be very interested in obtaining such a set. I hope K&C are listening and giving your idea some serious consideration.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Chris...Pat...or anyone else...have you seen this before...it's called Cleopatra's Barge...it's made of resin...highly detailed...very close in scale and only cost $49...if you're interested...contact me...I will find the link where I bought it...

Robin...cool set up...I see you did buy it...good buy...I really like mine...your figures look nice on yours...I think it matches up pretty well...the K&C figures might be a tad smaller and tad browner...but they are close enough for me...when I was in Dallas...at the Andrea/Black Hawk show...I took mine to a professional painter...Compton Creel...he has a retro/antique shop in Dallas...very close to where my sister lives....I believe he used to sculpt and paint for some of the bigger manufacturers (CS I think) he gave my resin figures a brown wash...darkening them up a bit...I also had him darken Cleopatra as she seems 3 shades ligher than alabaster........^&grin......a little too pale for me...but even without the touch up...this is a very collectible, highly detailed and practically priced piece...a real bargain...

I really like this "Cleopatra's Royal Passage Sculpture" {sm3}

Great find. Have to see where I can get one from (shipping to Germany). Shouldn't be too difficult to remove the figures and replace them with K&C.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Finally I found a "Cleopatra's Royal Passage" and put the K&C Cleopatra on it. :)

Stunning photos fellas and a really inspiring photo tribute to the AE line, my favorite of KC's current offerings. Village Horse, I just never tire of looking at your pictures, you've done a fine job of putting together a unique collection. Love the Romans in the background, hope ACN does some generic spearmen and archers to do a little scene depicting Caesar's riot at Alex. {sm4}

Alright, so I guess I can drop the obligatory "historical inaccuracy" comment here. {sm3}{sm4} Not trying to be mean, just poking fun at the whole controversy that ebbs and flows here on the forum. Being a big big fan of a fine pint of Guinness, I have always been curious as to what the Harp was all about. Not going to go into detail here but I did discover as a part of that "investigation" that harps are actually extrememly old instruments. However, the one portrayed in the AE musician set appears to be more of a medieval harp than one archaeologists place with Ancient Egypt. Here is one from the British Museum:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Egyptian_harp.jpg

It's interesting to see that they are more like a lyre than our traditional harps. Didnt stop me from buying the set, as I believe it is a good thing to have a bigger harp as it makes it easier to see what the woman is playing. Im not saying these harps didnt exist, just that the Egyptian one was much smaller- at this time period, this type of harp might be more common in Persia.

That Chinese "junk" boat did fill me with anticipation regarding the potential KC Nile boat in the future.

Found a chair that fits in with this range quite nicely, cheers, Robin.
