My American Mates,

What is wrong with your Postal System. Are you guys still relying on Cobb & Co. for mail delivery??????? My example as follows:

28 November, 2017 Parcel for me picked up at KingsX San Antonio

28 November, 2017 Parcel departed from San Antonio Mail Centre (I thought on its way to the Land of OZ)

2 December, 2017 Parcel arrives in Chicago. Four days to get there. Must have been by Pony Express!!!!!!!!!

3 December, 2017 Parcel departed from Chicago (Once again I thought on its way Down Under)

8 December, 2017 Parcel arrived Los Angeles. Five days to get there. Had to be by Stage Coach!!!!!!!!!

12 December, 2017 Parcel departed Los Angeles

So far from the date it was picked up by USPS in San Antonio it has taken 14 days before leaving the U.S. of A.

Great service from the USPS. I will be lucky to see this parcel before Christmas because it has to clear Aussie Customs and then have a "holiday" with Aussie Post.:(

Cheers Howard{sm4}

How did they send it----Priority, First Class, Parcel Select or etc.? The cheaper rates are slow
even within the U.S. At least you have a Tracking Number.

The worst ever are packages from St. Petersburg Russia to the USA. Takes a month minimum

The worst is a parcel to Brazil last year ..... the receiver is still waiting for that one.....

I lodged a 'missing parcels report' to Australia Post and after a couple of months and them enquiring with Brazil Post, it was declared 'Lost in transit' and then they paid out the postage cost because it wasn't insured.
Tracking said it had departed AUS and nothing after that.

This year, a couple of months back, yet another parcel went missing .... again I lodged a 'missing parcels report' to Australia Post and after a couple of months and them enquiring with Brazil Post, it was declared 'Lost in transit' and now they paid out the postage cost and the insured amount, which was well below the value of the goods and my painting.

Two very unhappy collectors here in the Southern Hemisphere :(

I just shipped a small package to Spain and it cost $22+.They told me the tracking number is only good till it leaves the US.

Howard, you've forgotten about that parcel I sent you a few years ago. I think it took three months to get to you.

Cheers Cobber.

Australia Post is no friend of mine. Several months back I didn't receive a parcel from a Sydney seller. He said that tracking indicated the parcel had been delivered. I subsequently proved to Australia Post with Time sheets and witnesses that I was working at the time and could not have signed for the parcel. Australia Post acknowledged I didn't receive it personally but could not help with a refund and said I had to claim via the seller, no joy there of course as he has "proof" of "delivery" via tracking. Ebay and Paypal couldn't help either.

Like most buyers I assumed that Signed Delivery meant that someone actually had to Sign for the parcel. However the "gentle folk" (Aussie for GDMF) at Australia Post said that if no one is home to sign for the parcel the deliverer can still leave the parcel at that address...Without a Signature. This information is printed (in very small type) on the adhesive freight sticker. Therefor if someone subsequently steals the parcel before you get home, that's too bad how sad.

I have a parcel that left treefrog last Thursday headed to Maryland and somehow it is still sitting in Washington State!!!! finally got a human on the phone after nearly 40 minutes of waiting today, they were super nice and assigned a case number to see if they can move the parcel along quicker, guy told me that they expect this to be the busiest mailing season on record, anyway hoping is about all I can do at this point.

Don't forget that this is the busiest time of the year to send packages and the volume of packages handled goes up almost exponentially.

Prost!

Four days ago, a friend sent me a 1st Class parcel that’s cited in tracking as being “in transit to Austin.” Good enough, but he only lives 45 miles from here!{eek3}

Usually a package takes 2-3 weeks to get from US to Canada yet I can have a package delivered from the UK in 5 days. ^&confuse^&confuse

What shipping speed? What rate? Takes me 3 to 4 weeks from Canada to the U.S. and costs twice as much.
At least I don't have to pay GST or Customs.

Sammy, I would love to know how a parcel going SE from Minnesota to Md. ends up going due west and takes a break in Washington State. You gotta love it.:rolleyes2: -- Al

It usually takes about 5x days to arrive by airmail from Australia to NZ and I have also had a parcel arrive from the US in 6x days, however the I did have a parcel take 6x weeks by airmail from the US once. It was tracked too which was handy, as for some unknown reason it sat in Chicago for nearly 3x weeks, before being sent to LA. The trip from LA to NZ only took 5x days, which makes you wonder what on earth was it doing sitting in Chicago all that time?
