And the new line is....Shores of Tripoli! (1 Viewer)

There is some very finely painted detail on these; hope the range is a great success.

What a lovely line, lovely figures, congrats and I wish you lots of success!

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marines.

Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev’ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines.

Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.

Thanks Peter.
I found the lyrics on Wikipaedia.
Stirring stuff.

What action does "The Halls of Montezuma" refer to?
To be more precise, as we were in the Marine trivia thread
"The Halls of Montezuma is a reference to the Marines engauged in the storming of Chapultepec Castle and the attack down La Verónica Causeway during the Mexican American War. The castle was also known as the Halls of Montezuma. An interesting side note (especially for Bob) is that the first American soldier to reach the top of the walls was none other than George Picket.:eek: Robert E Lee and Lieutenant Ulysses S. Grant."

Congratulations to HB and TF on a great new line. I quess this means you will need to do a young Picket, Grant and Lee, all in Blue.:cool:

BTW, until 1919 the first verse of the Marines hym was a bit different.
Lyrics in use before 1919 included:

From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli,
We fight our country's battles, on the land as on the sea.
Admiration of the nation, we're the finest ever seen;
And we glory in the title of United States Marines.

The reference to air power was added in 1942.

Now the hard question.Will this be limited edition?It looks like there's great interest in this line due to the uniqueness of the time period and can be had only at Treefrog.I think this is going to be a big winner.

Pete,
I should have guessed this one but you threw me off with your hint that it was a "song" that most forum members knew. No self-respecting Marine would refer to the 'Marines Hymn' as a "song." You wouldn't refer to 'Amazing Grace' as a "song", would you?

Anyway, these figures look great!

Rick,

Will you be getting these. I'm sure we'd like to see what you could do with them.

Regards,

Brad,
I'm doing some serious thinking about them! Looks like a lot of potential!

Thanks for the info Bill......but.......you left out another famous CW character during that incident at Chapultepec or "The Hill of the Grasshopper". As the 8th US Infantry charged Lt James Longstreet was out front carrying the flag up the hillside when he was hit by a musket ball in the thigh staggered and fell. He passed the colors to Lt George Pickett who then carried it over the wall.

HB & TF knocking out a US/Mex line-Wow! wouldn't that be something:eek:

Thanks Bob, well I should figure you to know US military history better than I do. Maybe I better go back to British military history; how much do you know about Spitfires anyway?;):D

Re: New Honour Bound Line

Right now we're giving a sneak peek of some of the figures in the range...in about a week we'll have a whole grouping of 16 ready to show you! At that time we will announce the two sets that will be released first. We will follow the HB schedule of 2 sets released at a time.

So...on to the pictures of (R to L) a Barbary Pirate, a Greek Mercenary, William Eaton, and a US Marine.

What a beautiful collection! I think they would look amazing against a backdrop of Barzso's buildings. Congratulations!

Cheers...

Barzo's make some great buildings that would go perfectly with these figures.

I agree, but I think it's more now a case of trying to get hold of them. I've got a couple of the buildings, but there's another I'm still after.

These are very nice indeed,not in my area of interest but very attractive.
