Another broken CS Chasseur! (1 Viewer)

I've ordered three CS Chasseurs in the last three weeks. The bugler (CS404) had a bent sword, the one lunging with sword (CS408) had a loose arm, and the flagbearer (CS406) came with the right arm completelty broken off. Two of the three even had chipped paint on the horses. I sent one back to the manufacturer but the arm is still loose (CS made me pay for the shipping to Austin Texas!)

All came from different online shops, so the problem cannnot lie with the shop.

The problem can't lie with UPS or USPS since I've ordered nine K&C Napoleonics in the same time span and have had no damaged items. One was the Cuirassier general mounted (NA111) and he has a sword raised, so the pose can not be the problem. Note: each came from a different shop like Treefrog and Metals of Honour.

In years past CS had problems but I asked a certified dealer and he told me that the problem had been rectified. I believe the dealer.

I'm becoming gun shy about ordering any more CS. Granted the poses are eyecatching to say the least, but the grief associated with a damaged item and the money it takes to repair an item are too much.

Has anyone else had such problems with CS?

Do you think the trick to buying CS is to go with a more established dealer who is willing to check merchandise before it is sent and to cover the postage?

Thanks,
MikeNick

Very true. Super glue is my friend. Most of the problem is the mass of the piece moving in the container, but not always. The shipping companies treat these items like basketballs. Really these guys could damage pillows packed in marshmellows:mad:

My Patton Command Car, Winter 88mm add on figure set all require super glue.

ooooooooooh...darn...this is a scary thread...I have asked several dealers lately about this...(I am so interested in the Roman series)...as I had heard it had been a problem in the past...they all told me that CS had improved it's shipping and it was no longer an issue...now I read this...:(

This happens with K&C and Figarti all the time as well. Funny though, Britains does not seem to have that problem. At least it was just super glue that was needed.

That's true. My only Figarti Red Bull set needed super glue as well; And something broke inside my K&C Elefant set because when I shake it I could hear something loose inside, but it looks perfect outside ^&grin

Last week, I ordered the CS Voltiguer Command Set. This was before the CS flagbearer arrived. I will let you know what condition it is in. This time, I went with someone who has been in the business longer. His experience may be a factor.

I had pieces that were separated on both the Winter 88 and the King Tiger, but neither was broken and were easily reattached with super glue - these were pieces that had pegs and slots so easy to fix. I keep ordering from CS because I really like their vehicles and prices and have been able to fix everything very easily. I have only had trouble with one figure. One of their earlier ACW figures had a broken sword (it was a very thin sword), and the dealer just sent me a replacement.

I have had some issues with only mounted figures in the past as they seem to be the most delicate but, it was handled promptly by CS. I didn't have to pay for any of the shipping. These days, with shipping charges a lot higher than they were only a few years ago, it must be difficult for the manufacturers to cover the shipping but, really it is up to them to make sure that the figures are shipped with the best possible care to avoid any incidents. Britains has resorted to clamshell packaging which works very well for damage-free shipping and easy collector storage. I really like this type of packaging. It should be considered.

I'm not a fan of clam shells...but I will agree...they seem very protective of the figure...I prefer pretty boxes with foam...lol...

maybe they can put them in clam shells and then inside a pretty box...

Have CS Panther Tank, WWII figures and a number of Scots Greys and never once had a problem - all have arrived in UK fine.

Sometimes it is the luck of the draw

I have several CS vehicles, including 2 KT's, a Stug, a Tiger I, and I have never had damage or breakage at all. Luck of the draw? Don't know, but all the stuff I have ever gotten has been fine. -- Al

Me too! I've seen so many loose arms on my Chasseurs! Swords were too thin and so on. I guess that's why the Carabiniers arms are glued on better and the swords are thicker! ^&grin^&grin^&grin

Hell those Chasseurs are sold out as it is, tough ones those little fellars. King Tiger fenders, hell I just glued mine back on.

Its sad the finer the detail the bigger the potential issues, just a balancing act. But as the years roll by we get better and better at it. No worries fellas we're always looking at making the stuff ship better, and guess what: it is!

Still kind of fun to complain about it though, for me too!:)

Cheers to all!

Brian

Nah, Chasseurs are just a tough one altogethor, don't be to worried about other codes.

Send us photos of the damage we'll replace them for free with some mega-packing. We just have 5 or so left so let us know soon!

regards,

Brian

Four out of eleven Chasseurs I ordered had bent swords, loose fig arms, horse tail off, etc. Was able to glue them back on without problem. Foam packing seemed tight and don't think problem was in shipping, maybe when packed at factory. Just ordered some of the new Carabiniers. Fingers crossed! Chris

The packaging has improved ten fold. Nothing moves inside the new stock. The Chasseurs are from an older batch.

Maybe CS goes cheaper on their packaging to keep costs down.
