Another broken CS Chasseur! (2 Viewers)

Four out of eleven Chasseurs I ordered had bent swords, loose fig arms, horse tail off, etc. Was able to glue them back on without problem. Foam packing seemed tight and don't think problem was in shipping, maybe when packed at factory. Just ordered some of the new Carabiniers. Fingers crossed! Chris

Let me know how they turn out.

What did you use to glue them back on?

Nah, Chasseurs are just a tough one altogethor, don't be to worried about other codes.

Send us photos of the damage we'll replace them for free with some mega-packing. We just have 5 or so left so let us know soon!

regards,

Brian

Sorry, you are already out of the chasseur flagbearer.

Having to pay for the return shipping to have it fixed still urkes me. I just don't agree with it. What do you think?

Well...I don't know...I can see it both ways...but it's really more like you split the cost...he had to pay the shipping to send you a new one...honestly...i think the burden falls more on the company to comp or reimburse your shipping...I think they can absorb it better than you...

Nothing cheap about CS packaging IMO and if one has seen the foam supports then it would not have been asked!!! This is an industry problem as it affects all manufacturers some more some less. Some of it may be down to transit as we all have heard or, in some cases seen the way parcels are treat by courier guys however, I think its all these highly paid (allegedly) chinese chaps and women who have an overwhelming love and care for their careers putting in products to forcefully into the packaging. Imagine standing at a desk all day packing toy soldiers!!! for £1 big dollar an hour (I don't know!! is it more than that???) are you really going to put as much care into it as you would if they were say your own you were packing.... NO

I have taken things from packaging and when you replace the top foam layer it just does not feel right and you know if you push it down and replace the box lid something is going to go wrong and, have spent many minutes trying to get it right. Do these packers have this luxury in time?? I am not so sure.

I have only had one broken item from CS and one where a side of a base was not painted and they were sorted out at no cost to me and with ease.

Do I worry about broken sets coming?? No more from CS than I think about it from any other manufacturer its a crap game, some will have damage on the whole we all get more unbroken than broken across the board.

Well I've never had anything damaged from K&C & Figarti but always get stuff falling apart from CS & think it a lot down to poor glueing , thought Brain said they were looking to improve there packing before ^&confuse

I suppose this may have been posted "tongue in cheek", but I wonder.....oh, the sarcasm.....

No tongue in cheek or sarcasm meant I really think as there are a good few threads across the board that if its not a postal issue with damage then it has to be down to the packers at the factories and, that is out of the manufacturers hands to an extent as they are not there standing over their workers. I also really mean that about the pay and conditions and, when I was about 18 I very briefly worked in a family friends factory making blow moulded products and can tell you it was a three shift rota and the money although not bad was not nearly enough to stand for 8 hours checking and packing plastic bottles. did some faulty ones slip through accidentally on purpose you bet ya and, thats my point with toy soldier packers.

Do you think the trick to buying CS is to go with a more established dealer who is willing to check merchandise before it is sent and to cover the postage?

These things are made by hand & will have problems from time to time.

I'm not sure dealers like the idea of taking stuff out of the box before shipping. Could be more trouble than it's worth

ooooooooooh...darn...this is a scary thread...I have asked several dealers lately about this...(I am so interested in the Roman series)...as I had heard it had been a problem in the past...they all told me that CS had improved it's shipping and it was no longer an issue...now I read this...:(

Michael,

So as to alay your concerns,...

Before I received the broken CS Chasseur, I had ordered the CS Voltiguer Command Set.

Yesterday, it arrived safe and sound, which is a first. The order was my first with Minutemen Toy Soldiers. The owner was extra careful about packing it. There was a lot of extra packing cushions.

NOTE: he does not charge for shipping.

Rec'd my first installment of 3 Carabinier figs today. I think these are the best yet, superb painting and detail. And they arrived in mint condition! :smile2: Chris

I am waiting for my full set of carabiniers to arrive tomorrow!

I would really appreciate follow up from you about your order.

My CS chasseur flagbearer (CS406) came with a broken arm. I took it to a hobby shop in Pensacola and they noted that paint had come off due to a lack of a primer. I really like the figure but paint pealing and the repair associated with it is too much. So after much heistancy, I've decided to return the figure.

Follow up from you would help me in my decision to continue collecting Collectors Showcase or to turn to King and Country and First Legion.

Since the carabiniers have come out more recently than the chasseurs, I'm hoping that production methods improved had improved.

I would really appreciate your observation.

Thanks,
MikeNick

Yes the Chassuer taught us some hard lessons about shipping such pieces most certainly.

The Carabiniers incorporate all of the improvements. Thicker swords and superior packing with bigger boxes as well.

Glad to hear you are enjoying them, they are selling like hotcakes truly.

regards,

Brian

I got my 7 Carabiniers today via Sierra Toy Soldiers (skipped the one shooting on horse back)

My comments:

1. First of all I bought these because K&C did not produce Carabiniers (same reason why I bought the Polish Lancers)

2. Scale: Matches very well with K&C and Del Prado (I got the Del Prado Mounted Carabinier Corporal and the Sky Blue Trumpeter and it is awesome and hard to find on ebay)

3. Painting: As expected the color is less vibrant than K&C with heavy 'wash'. I prefer the more vibrant K&C painting for Napoleonic soldiers. The Cuirass should be more shinny IMHO. The Del Prado cuirass has been painted just the right amount of shine. Face sculpting and painting are inferior to K&C

4. Poses: Moderately exaggerated (when compared to K&C Charging Cuirassiers). The arms holding the swords had a "stuck-on" appearance, just didn't look natural. Some had their waists bended in extraordinary degrees. My flagbearer is leaning too much forward comparing to the manufacturer's photo

5. Historical accuracy: The Trumpeter's horse should be white (it has the same brown color). I am glad that I can substitute with the Del Prado version, although the Del Prado mounted trumpeted seemed too calm as if on parade instead of fighting. Also the plume should be white instead of red. But that could be easily fixed with Vallejo paint.

6. Horses: they look more realistic than K&C and the painting of their eyes were more subtle and realistic than K&C. However, all the horses had the same color. Some mild variety between the horses would be great!

7. Packaging: I was glad that I get top notch delivery service from Sierra Toy Soldiers Company all the way shipped to Hong Kong! I only suffered minimal trauma from bended swords and carbines (one of the carbine had some paint chipping) but overall it improved from the Polish Lancers.

8. The horse lashes are in soft fabric material instead of solid polystone. I guess it reduced the cost and less breakage! But we customers didn't get reduced prices on these ones compared to previous releases.

In summary I look forward to:

Less exaggerated action poses (more realistic)
More vibrant paint (less washing)
No price raises
Higher historical accuracy
New Napoleonic cavalry releases (regiments not done by K&C)
