Purchased a "Buy It Now", 2 minutes later I realized I bought the wrong item. I tried to cancel the purchase, not possible. I contacted ebay and they told me I had to contact the seller and ask him for a refund that there was no way for me to cancel the transaction.
Does anyone know a way around this or am I at the mercy of the seller?
I would not be concerned other than this seller has over 28000 feedbacks (99.7) with all the negatives being no communication.
This is not buyers remorse I truely made an honest mistake.
Gary

You're at his mercy. Contact him and see if he'll deal. 99% people are a mensch.

Prost!
Brad

Done that myself, most sellers are great, just like us collectors, just ask for him to cancel and he will send you a cancel accept request, all the best Trevor

Exactly my bad also.
I did 3 buy-it-now's, however 1 was not the correct one I wanted. After a few cordial emails all worked out fine.

There are a few bad dealers ... and I encountered one ... but most are honest and understanding.
Let us know how it turns out.

Larry,

Swear to God that happened to me once and I begged the seller to understand as I had truly made the wrong click. She was cool and took care of it.

It happened to me as a seller. Buyer told me he had put in one too any zeroes and since he was retired, he couldn't afford it. I wasn't happy, to say the least, but what are you going to do. I resold it but not near the original price.

Brad,

Yeeouch Mr. Brad! That sucks what piece was it...if you don't mind me asking? Seriously Brad if it brings up bad memories then you don't have to answer. But, man that sucks.

John,

I think it was Afghans that were similar to Trophy's but a little thinner.

Brad

Some one asked me to post the out come. Messaged him, no response. Called numerous time got voicemail, also no response. Today I received an email ststing it is shipped today. Funny but I don,t think I will receive this item as it apparantly got lost in the mail and I will seek a refund. We all know how woefull our mail service is!
Gary

Now Brad, do you think I,m that stupid! This is another hobby altogether. Like I said it,s just a $4 item, but it,s the principle. If he would have just contacted me, one way or another it would be a dead issue.
Gary

Only $4.00 ... so no real financial issue, but I hear you on the principle of the thing.

I would think that for $4.00 it is not worth the bother to "fight" it thru PayPal or EBay and just accept it.
THEN ... put it on the Forum Buy/Sell for $5.00 + SH....

If the seller won't cancel the deal and isn't the understanding type, just don't sent the payment. If Ebay gives you a
unpaid item "strike", who cares? They (EBAY) wants your business more than you need them! If you don't want the
strike then just pay the $4.00 and be done with it.

For $4 it's not worth the aggravation and negative feedback. Moreover, if he's like me, I save all my proof of delivery so if you say you didn't get it, he can prove you're not being truthful.

I never got the Yalta figures...please send some K&C glossies to make up for it! :p

(for those who don't know, I am TOTALLY kidding!!!!! figures arrived and I love them)

Brad..

Often its not the monetary value but, the principles behind. What affects one person may not another. For me, I would have just let it go as a error on my part but, I am not Gary. My point for replying is that proof of postage means nothing on e-bay. All it means is seller X sent an item to buyer Y. Unless its tracked and a signed for service there is no proof of anyone being dishonest etc if they say the item never arrived. In a refund case its also not in a sellers interest to send items in such a way. They will always loose on e-bay.

Best bit of advice I ever got from Neil about e-bay was send everything recorded and tracked.

Mitch,

I agree that I would have let it go but we're all different. I also agree that proof of postage means very little. I send my packages in the US by Fed Ex Ground, which means I can track it and know if the package has been delivered. I would think that if there was a dispute with delivery of a package I sent, eBay would accept the tracking information as proof of delivery.

Brad

And no I,m "not covering my tracks" but I really never received this item nor did I get a refund. I filed a case with ebay. How ironic!

The guy never responded to ebay, I won and got my money back. But here is another question. I cannot give negative feedback, ebay won,t allow it, how come?
Yes I got a refund, but I had to jump thru hoops to get it so there should be some consequence to the seller I would think.
Gary

Gary...

What I have seen and been told is that you leave the negative feedback in writing but, it goes down as positive in the daft little box. I would think e-bay does not want a slanging match where sellers and buyers are getting negatives too many people may exclude poor buyers and sales would drop.
