Another Popsickle House (1 Viewer)

That's **nny...yes they are all posickles sticks...sugar free banana is my poison...

we diabetics are a little limited on our store bought desert selections...

each stick is "hand grained" with a nail for detail...it's a little time consuming...but adds to the final look...

I'm getting pretty good...or at least better...on the popsickle structures...this is my fourth and my best yet...I'm getting much better with the glue...the painting...the realism...and the sturdiness of the buildings...

the one I made for this thread was literally a one day project...very easy and very cheap...this was my first attempt at a thatched roof...

everytime I do a new structure...I try to figure out ways to correct the mistakes I made on my old ones...which there are plenty of...

I have not done much on the project itself in a couple of weeks...but I am going to buckle down and get to work on it soon...I'm really waiting for John Jenkins to release enough artillery crew members to man the 4 stations I'm adding...

Wow, I had no idea you were scoring all that wood grain. have a look at the photos I emailed you. The woodgrain on the ramparts comes fromt he wood itself, no scoring except for making the planking and nails...so quick and easy! You could do a whole wall in an hour with as much vaiety as you like.

Best,

I wish I had your patience to do something like this.

Best,

I meant to call you when I saw all the pics you emailed me...that one picture of the ramparts was just a little blurred...I'm gonna call you tomorrow...your mat was awesome and your figures blew me away...I gotta talk to you...if I don't call early call me...it means I forgot...

I just had another look at these. You know, for popsickle sticks, they are pretty darn good. And I notice you have a few architectural styles (and possibly flavors). What scenario were you planning on using these in (pardon my preposition)?...I expect you will use them with your FIW figures.

Nicholas...they were all designed for FIW...except the thatched roof piece...I thought it might could go a little later...maybe even 1812 wilderness...the straw roof lends to a lot of eras...as does the shingled roof I guess...they could probably get through the Civil War era...I guess anything from 1755 to current day "lean to's"...hahaha...

and the sticks do work fine...they are extremely sturdy...with a hot glue gun you can go really fast...I have gotten better with the carving and gluing...the biggest problem is...it looks "too nice"...not rustic enough...not raw or primitive enough...my painting skills can't give it the weathered look I desire...this piece was just a brown paint wash...basically a stain almost...with a towel to rub off excess...but with paint...

they are more than satisfactory for me...they will work for my stuff...I need to finish out the windows...I got a good stiff piece of clear plastic sitting on my table to fabricate the windows with...

I'm sooooooooo slow...not like you...doing 10 projects at once...your energy amazes me when you start working...always got something in the fire...

looking forward to my package of balsa and grounwork...checking my mail...I'll call you when I get it...

and thank you everybody for the nice compliments...
