Tucson we all said then thought. well that's not a bird. then we thought it was a trick question and so we put the answer down as

We should save this for a Civil War thread - but, since we are playing American States Guess - Which Southern State Capitol was not taken by force during the Civil War ? This Capitol was surrendered after LEE and all other State Capitols were under Union Occupation.

The population of Texas is greater than the population of Alaska.

Based on their climate I think New Zealand is closer to Alaska
