I realized that I haven't ever posted one of my favorite dioramas - ANTIETAM !

This was one of my first big efforts in diorama making with my King and Country Civil War figures and a lot of fun to do.

The rocks you see next to the stream are actually rocks that I brought home from the actual battlefield site next to the historic bridge. And the rocks on the Confederate side are actual rocks from the Confederate positions overlooking the historic bridge.

This is one of my favorite Civil War Battles and I have the complete set K&C made. I have also put in a few Britains figures to fill it out. :D

I really loved that old K&C Civil War set. I like the new ones as well.

Enjoy.

Very, very impressive Ron. I think this is one of my favorities from your posts to date. Interesting incorporation of historical geology, just don't advertise that to the park service.;)

Another great looking diorama Ron - As they would say during the ACW, Huzzah!

Mike

capitalron, pls show us the Afrika Korps display below the civil war stuff as well. Thanks.

Rob

Thanks - Rob !

I really do enjoy the Civil War stuff - I am very fortunate to live near many battle sites around the Washington area. I take lots of day trips when I can to visit all of them.

Interesting site I visited recently was the Maryland site of the Battle of Monocacy. They (National Park Service) have recently put together great displays and a small visitors center - very interesting.

Here is some info on the Battle:

ANTIETAM is one of my favorite Battles of the entire Civil War - it is so important on many fronts. One in particular is this Battle had some of the most impressive Artillery exchanges in the War. Also this was the Battle that showed 100% that the Napoleonic Tactics being used for Warfare at that time was "outdated" for the new modern weapons of that day.

Here is some background info:

:D :D :D

I am all over the board - most here think that I only collect Napoleonics .... but, actually I have dioramas & collections of:

Romans (K&C, Conte)

Crusades (K&C, Del Prado)

French & Indian War (JJD)

American Revolution War (K&C, Conte, Britains)

Napoleonics (K&C, Del Prado, Hachette, First Legion)

American Civil War (K&C, Britains, Conte, CS)

WWI (K&C)

WWII (K&C, Figarti)

I also have several WARBIRDS from CORGI (Very Nice and Cheap !) - one K&C Spitfire and several pieces of the Egypt Range that goes with my Napoleonics and AK WWII Dioramas.

Just a small time collector. ;)
