Great stuf there ! Brads on board, need to twist Carlos's arm just a bit more
as he's been right on the edge for ACW a while now.

KC ACW and Conte? Close in scale? I was under the impression that some KC lines{ ACW, Alamo, Crusades} were not as large as say WW2 line.Theres a few Rebz there that I might not be able to live without.

The new figures of K&C Civil War work great with Conte and pretty good with the new Britains - some of the Britains are on the small side - not too bad though.

I really love this range and have started to buy a few a couple of months ago. But, now I am waiting on expense checks before jumping again on these and a few other surprizes. :D

When you see these guys up close - both Confederate and Union - they are just WONDERFUL ! Some of Andy's best works yet ! Especially some of those Rebels - the sculpts on those guys are fantastic !!

I was looking at the Confederates online yesterday and they also look quite nice. I'll probably want to pick up some of the first series before it gets retired. Also, great looking brochure.

My Union figures are scheduled to arrive today so I will let you know how they look.

I just bought my first K&C Civil War figures over the weekend, some Confederates from the first two releases. I like them so much I've decided to put WWII on the back burner until I have all the Confederates. What an improvement in sculpting and painting over the 2000 series. My wife even said that although she normally doesn't like the Civil War, she was impressed. However, I'm holding off on the 83rd Pennsylvania. I don't know much about the uniforms of various regiments, but they don't look like typical Union uniforms to me. Not that I'm always against unusual uniforms, as I woould love some Zouaves.

I hope this new Civil War series is popular enough to continue for a while. But, I'm really curious about what could be next or how long it will be.

I've received the Union figures and think they're very good.

Kurt,

According to the little insert from K & C, because of a lack of suitable uniforms, the Quatermaster General purchased 10,000 complete sets of Chausseur style uniforms from a Parisian military supplier. I'm sure we'll see the uniforms we're used to seeing in photos in future releases.

Ron,

Aside from the information on the uniforms and some general info about the causes of the war, here's what the insert says:

"Among the first units to be formed was the 83rd Pennsylvania Volunteers. This regiment was recruited from the northwest counties of Pennsylvania and mustered in September 1861 at a camp near the town of Erie. Once assembled, these troops were quickly dispatched to Washington, D.C. and spent the winter of 1861 stationed in the defense of the capital.

The following spring, the regiment joined the 5th Corps of the Army of the Potomac, where it remained for the duration of the war. The unit saw its first action in the summer of 1862 and played a notable part in the Battle of Gaines’ Mill. The Confederates, intent on driving the 83rd from their position, attacked the Pennsylvanians with regiment after regiment of infantry. In an effort to rally his troops, Brig. Gen. Daniel Butterfield seized the Colors of the 83rd and in a loud voice shouted, “Your ammunition is never spent while you still have bayonets, men! .. an act for which he received the Medal of Honor."

For some reason I like the older civil war figures than the new one. Probably becasue of its value.

I picked up the 83rd PA flagbearer in Gettysburg at one of the toy soldier shops last month. It is one of my favorite CW figures and sits beside my St. Petersburg NY Zoauve flag bearer very nicely. In general, I am very impressed with the new K&C CW figures (especially the Confederates - and I have tended to buy more Union guys) - better than the older series which had great action poses but not as high quality on the sculpting. The guy in the Gettysburg shop said he and some other guys actually researched to make sure the 83rd did have chasseur uniforms. I love flags, and this one is very nice!! Could use a few more ripples though.

One of the most famous episodes for the 83rd PA was its defense of Little Round Top at Gettysburg, on the right flank of the 20th Maine.
