I got the first Char B when it came out last year and hadn't been planning to get the new version that came out a couple of months ago because while I thought the first one was nice, it didn't bowl me over. However, I saw the new color scheme at a show back in April and picked it up. Glad I did. It's a fantastic model and I like the new version much better than the old. It's a real sleeper and actually one of my favorite tanks, believe it or not. What I've done is have the two tanks together and all the French soldiers congregating as if planning their next move.

If you have a chance to pick up any of the Chars, I recommend buying it, especially the more recent one. Really nice.

I had bought the 1st version, because it was such an unique tank. I sold it, because it just did not fit in with the rest of my vehicles....The second color scheme does look nice, though. Michael

I debated with myself since the series came out. I won. I have all but two of the French infantry. The first item I got was the Char B, the first one. As usual, I get interested when things get retired. It just takes me a while to be able to afford my tastes.

Once I got it, I became very fond of it. When the second came out, I was among the first in line to get it and I am very pleased with it. I have them in my display case set up in a French Norman village (K&C facades) with the German Wermacht sets. The shelf is divided in half with each being joined by the pontoon bridge. I am now pissed at myself for having sold the German cavalry and the Panzer II. They sure would have worked well with this particular theme. I think I will have to pay a small fortune if I want to get them again.

I use the Char B', crews, and a few French Officers in a surrender scene with the German Engineer Officer. I think they work well this way. So, Brad, you are not the only fan of the Char B (both versions).:)

I have both and they are among my favorite. Like Michael, I display them with the NV facades as background with some french soldiers from the FoB serie.

Pierre.

I have the first one and will eventually get the second one. Tamiya came out with their Char B model kit. Here is someone's completed model.

The Char B is a classic to me.It just looks the way a tank of that time period should.
Alex, that model looks great. I'm going to have to dig through all my armor books and see if the Germans used the ones captured.I'm certain they did.

Yes they used everything they captured if it would work. The Germans used the WWI Char FT17's for crowd control. I have VHS tape of this tank FT17 that some guys here in US restored and drive around.
