Bob,
I'm attempting to arrange for my office to send me to London, UK, for a work-related conference at the same time as the 1 Dec show. While I'm there, I would like to check the toy soldier shops for old and new figures. Can you give me a run down of the London shops?
Since I don't get to Treefrog that much, maybe a list exists somewhere?![]()
hhenry. when you posted above I was already mid-Atlantic and have just noticed your enquiry.
Suggest you avoid not just Hamley's but all other London toy shops as you will pay top dollar for figures.
The markets in Portobello Road can throw up the odd collection but nothing on a regular basis. You mentioned Camden Arch???? I think you mean The Stables Antique market on Camden Lock a large area where there are a few militaria shops who sometimes stock figures.. On line as "The Stables Camden Town"
One good toy soldier dealer who is practically unknown to collectors is a guy I have dealt with many times and at very reasonable prices for Britain's, K&C. Trophy etc. he is Terry Newbury of Newbury Toys based at 22 The Drive Chingford London E47AH. On line "Newbury Toys".
Good hunting hope you have better luck than I did in the US the guys here were right I never found one toy soldier shop in 4 States. Intended to get to Los Gatos to visit the kilted vamp but after travelling over 3000 miles in 2 weeks was too knackered to get there.
Might see you at the London Toy Soldier Show!
Bob
