after the high of figarti's "Shock and Awe", i felt figarti is really, really slow to proceed and its quite annoying as we all can see figarti's increasingly excellent products.

as with you guys, i'm a big fan, but am almost fed up waiting for the V1 extension ramp, and waiting for news for the Panzer IV Auf J.

a periodical update would be most welcome.

my 2 cents.

I,m not "fed up", but is does cause me to wonder if something negative is going on.
There were a whole lot of items displayed at OTSN that I thought would be out by now.
Rick?

well Gary, fed up might be a bit too strong, but you get what i mean.

i was so excited about the potential Panzer IV auf J and the storch that i regularly check the forum for updates.

i guess frustration really got to me.

I think you have to remember, unlike Andy, Ken or Anna, this is not Rick's primary business so he will check here from time to time but not constantly.

That being said, I will contact him to see if he can furnish an update.

For as far is I know, the V1 ramp extension and Railgun are available.
At least in Europe

I agree an occasional update would retain people's interest.

Here Nasir,

A few pictures of a 1/35 Panzer Ausf.J with a nice late war paint scheme off the web. Note the use of RAL 8012 (primer) on the inside of the driver's hatch. This represents the time when interiors were left coated in primer only. Late model side skirts angled in towards the bottom as well because it was found they had a habit of getting torn off.

It just doesn't get any better than that!!!:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Thanks Frank,

if Figarti's Panzer Auf J turns out anything close to that i'll be delighted and accept the long delay.

I'm just getting caught up with stuff that came out 6 months ago. This stuff is so expensive, a slight breather between releases is most welcome for me anyway. :) My interest in Figarti remains high, precisely because it is actually possible to keep up with their new releases rather than become over-saturated with new products like most matte WW2 manufacturers now (some of which are of less than optimal quality).

CS, I agree with you that a breathing space is always good mate.

it gives us a chance to allocate our tight budget (most of us) to basic neccessities of life.

but to have scarcely any news for weeks on end is not good enough.

I emailed Rick and I hope to have some news in a couple of days.

Patience is a virtue, I think we will all be happy when the new releases come out! For now, my wallet is enjoying the peace and quiet.

Rick asked me to post the following on his behalf.

*****

In 2009, a year that will be interesting for all industry including ours, I see Figarti doing several things.

First of all, we will continue to improve on the sculpting and painting of our figures.

Secondly, we will make several NEW tanks and will keep the tradition of the “Figarti Way” in details and creative manufacturing.

As for airplanes, we will do the Storch and will do two different versions which I will disclose in more details before the West Coaster Show. So Figures, Armor and Planes will be in the playbook for Figarti.

But there will be some changes this year relating to our production planning. First and foremost, we will try to have product deliveries to the US every Month, in 2008, we only had 7 shipping windows and this was the cause of having delayed shipments to the US, we will improve on this. Secondly, we will put on hold the “ARTIST CLUB” program for a year so that our production capacity can open up for a NEW PROJECT which is going to be EXCITING but will only be announced in Chicago this year!

As for production numbers, we anticipate a potential drop off in the industry due to obvious economic reasons so we will go to a 120 only limited production numbers for each product line. We went up to 160 units per item in 2008 due to our successful European launch with Clive but to make sure we keep the industry healthy and NOT causing over inventory, we will go to a 120 limited runs (And we plan to individually number all products!).

As the economic impact will certainly affect everyone, it is important to keep prices in check, so in 2009, you will not see Figarti increase prices, in fact, we will do our best to try and lower costs and pass the savings to collectors. As for the subject matter focus for Figarti this year, we will continue strong in the FM30 line in WWII Europe and if you follow our recent products, you can guess we’re on our way to Rome. No secrets, and its good to see K&C also pursuing a similar time period because this way, collectors benefit from the choices to complete his/her own story, diorama or collection.

In our FM32 line, we don’t expect to see major developments into new subject matters but will continue to release add on sets to our established Pacific, Vietnam, and Modern lines. Overall, I am quite excited about 2009 and already looking forward to Chicago this year!

Gary:

More than likely some sort of trade show in Rome. I believe they (Team Figarti) attended one in Germany last year.

thanks Brad for posting Rick's reply.

overall, it is simply an annual forecast. though many good points - new tanks on the way, pursuit of improvements on figure and vehicles, apparent genuine attempt at not raising prices, storch on the way, etc.

a few points to ponder -

1. there is still no news on the Figarti Panzer Auf J. Hopefully it'll come out by end of first quarter 2009 (March). since the excellent prototype was displayed at last year's Chicago show, anything further than march will be quite odd, in my opinion.

2. the pursuit of improvements on figures i hope will be a priority. Whilst Figarti's vehicles are widely regarded as par excellence, the figures generally still suffer from disproportion (elongated arms, pumpkin heads, long shoulders).

though K&C figures also has similar problems with their figures from time to time, i regard Figarti as different to K&C. Figarti has a lower production rate, and their products tone leans to seriousness and gritty as compared to the bright coloured cheero/cartoony K&C figures.

3. The way to Rome sounds vague, but i'll guess it means Caesar and the Legionaries instead of Fallschirmjager and Mount Cassino.

4. hopefully the products will spread out this year, instead of having to wait for the chicago show to see the bulk of the products.

in the meantime i'll wait for the V1 extension ramp. (whenever that coming)

sincerely,

nasir kasmani.
