or does anyone know even if the fenders can be cut off given the design architecture?

I can see some conversions coming with a few requests for repaints already in. Please don't try and use a hacksaw blade!!!! madness for me, as its more likely you will take the tracks also The blade is to long and, the teeth to wide to get a clean cut you lose to much outer detail when using tools like this. Use a dremmel with a small circular blade which offers more precision and a better finish. I always score the area when its polystone which, the T-34 guards look like to save slips from the speed the dremmel can use.

They look more realistic and mean when guards are off

Yeah I agree with the mean, I was going to do that with the Figarti JS-2 but it is impossible as the treads & fenders are fused together. I hope it's possible with this design
 
Rob was asking if anyone could cut the fenders off his new uxb tilly ...... any takers?

Sorry Mitch I was wrong I meant to say use a hammer a fix everything tool. Simmo.
