I'm back home after a long day ...
let home at 4:45 am to walk up to the Fremantle War memorial for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service, which as the biggest ever here in the Port City.
Walked home for a shower, shave and breakfast, then off in the car to Perth the city parade. On the way collection my daughter and her husband who was the snare drummer for one of the bands.
Formed with my old gunner comrades, then march down St Georges terrace to the cheers of hundreds, if not thousands of people lining the route, more number than I've seen!
Drove up to Kings Park to visit the State War Memorial, followed by placing flowers on a remembrance plaque at a tree for my Uncle Jack, an 18 year old kid killed in France in 1918.
Then back via Fremantle War memorial, again, to see their floral tributes and inspect Uncle Jack's name on a new set of plaques unveiled this morning commemorating the 849 Freo boys who didn't come home from WW1.
Home for a late lunch, and well earned beer, Stella Artois, in honour of our Belgian allies, and watched the dawn service direct from Gallipoli, and following that, from Villers Bretonneux.
Now rest time....
Lest We Forget
